Bangladesh enjoyed stellar success in the 1st Test against Australia, defeating the home side by nine wickets. Hasan Mahmud emerged as the wrecker-in-chief for the Tigers, dismantling the Aussies with stunning bowling spells in Darwin.
Hasan became the first player from his country to register a five-wicket haul in Tests Down Under. He finished the game with nine wickets, thereby playing a pivotal role in Bangladesh's historic victory.
While Mahmud's bowling exploits in Darwin grabbed the limelight, the fast bowler has been quite effective in T20s as well. Considering he is in prolific form, several IPL franchises must be keeping an eye on the Bangladesh speedster ahead of the mini auction for the tournament's 2027 edition.

1. Kolkata Knight Riders
Led by Ajinkya Rahane, Kolkata Knight Riders were one of the teams that lacked potency in their pace department in IPL 2026. The Knight Riders were ranked ninth among teams with the most wickets in the tournament with just 77 scalps in 14 innings.
Akash Deep, Matheesha Pathirana and Harshit Rana have been prone to injuries, while Mustafizur Rahman's contract was snubbed prior to the 2026 season. Vaibhav Arora and Navdeep Saini were inconsistent, managing only 11 breakthroughs between them.
At the moment, Blessing Muzarabani is KKR's most reliable pace option alongside Kartik Tyagi. Therefore, KKR definitely need to strengthen their pace attack, and Hasan Mahmud is someone who can fulfil their quest.
2. Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians had a horrible IPL 2026 campaign, finishing ninth in the ten-team standings with four wins in 14 matches. MI's fast-bowling department was undoubtedly a major reason for their underwhelming performance.
Jasprit Bumrah managed only four wickets in 13 matches, while Trent Boult was dropped mid-season, collecting two scalps in five outings. Deepak Chahar had a miserable economy of 10.39, leaving MI in troubled waters.
Bumrah had a rare off-season in the Mumbai Indians jersey. But given that Boult and Chahar are collectively priced at 21.75 crores, the MI management will likely get rid of them after their poor returns.
In such a scenario, they can have a look at Hasan Mahmud, who can be handy with his accuracy and seam movement on the Wankhede surface.
3. Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings registered six wins in their first seven games in IPL 2026, riding on their formidable top four comprising Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Cooper Connolly and Shreyas Iyer.
However, their bowling department struggled to get going throughout the competition. PBKS finished IPL 2026 with the lowest dismissals among all teams, with several of their bowlers registering abysmal economy rates.
Arshdeep Singh's strike rate was on the higher side of 20s; Marco Jansen could bag only nine wickets in 13 matches. Xavier Bartlett and Vyshak Vijaykumar also searched for breakthroughs, recording economy rates of 11.58 and 10.64, respectively.
Therefore, if PBKS release some of these players, Hasan Mahmud can be a replacement worth considering. The pitch at Mullanpur Stadium, where PBKS will play their home matches, assists the new ball bowlers, and Mahmud has all the ingredients to succeed in such conditions.
