Ravi Bishnoi has been named in Team India squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. Yastika Bhatia punched out a historic Test century against England Women at Lord’s on Day 3. In other news, Brendon McCullum has been sacked as the Test coach of the England national side.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Sunday, July 12.

It is worth noting that Rana was ruled out of India squad for the ODI series against hosts England a few days ago owing to a hamstring injury.

Ravi Bishnoi replaces Varun Chakaravarthy for Zimbabwe tour

Similarly, the BCCI has also included leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi in Team India squad for the upcoming three-match T20I tour of Zimbabwe later this month. Bishnoi was named in the national side as a replacement for T20 World Cup winning cricketer Varun Chakaravarthy.

During the T20I series in England earlier this month, Chakaravarthy reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his left hamstring. He is slated to report to the BCCI CoE for further management.

Heather Knight announces retirement from international cricket

Former England captain Heather Knight has announced her retirement from international cricket. The 35-year-old will be bowing out of the game following the conclusion of England Women’s ongoing one-off Test against India.

It is worth noting that fellow senior pro Tammy Beaumont will also be making her exit from international cricket after the Test match. Knight played 15 Tests, 160 ODIs and 145 T20Is during her extensive career, aggregating nearly 8,000 runs in the process.

Yastika Bhatia scripts historic ton vs England Women

India wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia punched out 113 runs off just 158 balls with 14 boundaries against England Women to notch up her maiden Test century. The cricketer has now become the first-ever player in history to score a Women’s Test ton at the iconic Lord’s in London.

Bhatia’s innings helped India set up a huge 457-run target for England Women on Day 3 of the four-day match.

Brendon McCullum sacked as England coach, Ravi Ashwin eyed

The ECB has sacked former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum as head coach of the England Test side. The decision was made following England’s Ashes drubbing in Australia and a home series loss to New Zealand.

As per reports, the ECB is currently eyeing former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin as McCullum’s successor. However, neither the board nor the cricketer have made any official confirmation yet.
