On Saturday, February 21, India women locked horns against Australia for the third and final T20I of the enthralling series. The Trophy was on the line, and Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. deliveries when it mattered the most. The visitors registered a 17-run win, but one highlight that stood out from the rest of the game was Grace Harris’ hit-wicket.

Notably, India, batting first, put 159/9 on the board after 20 overs. In reply, the Aussies lost three early wickets. At one point, they were reduced to 130/6, and the hosts required 47 runs to win in four overs. Shree Charani came to bowl the pressure over, and Grace Harris decided to take on the Delhi Capitals bowler.

Grace Harris' Embarrassing Dismissal Steals The Internet

The luck was on India’s side as Harris swept a ball, but her back foot touched the stumps, and the bails were dislodged, bringing India back in the game. It was a crucial moment in the game, and her dismissal quickly went viral on social media as hit-wicket continues to be a rare event in international cricket.

Grace Harris' Return Ends In A Nightmare

However, Harris squandered the opportunity with a hit-wicket and returned to the pavilion with a score of 1 (2), adding a wicket to Shree Charani's tally. For the unversed, Grace Harris returned to the field after a long time, her first appearance since WPL final.

Harris was a crucial figure for the Challengers in the entire campaign as she scored 237 runs in nine innings, helping the Women in Red clinch their second WPL title. It is also worth noting that Harris failed to help Mandhana and co in the final, where she only amassed 9 (7) against Delhi Capitals.

Richa Ghosh Rightly Predicts Grace Harris Wicket

Grace Harris loves to stay deep in her crease, making her susceptible of getting hit-wicket. It was not long before Harris was going to get out in a similar fashion. Interestingly, Richa Ghosh, who kept wickets for India, shared the dressing room with Harris in RCB and was aware of her batting style.

Interestingly, before the hit-wicket ball, Ghosh had predicted Harris' wicket and was caught speaking in the stump mic, where she stated that a hit-wicket is coming soon and rightly so. Following Grace's dismissal, the internet buzzed with demands to seek her removal.

Nonetheless, both teams have now shifted their focus to ODIs which will begin from February 24 at 9:00 am.
