Days after IPL 2026 began, the tournament had a proper thriller during the Rajasthan Royals vs Gujarat Titans clash in Ahmedabad on April 4. The thriller won by RR by 6 runs, however, was highlighted by a post-match drama created by Ravindra Jadeja.

As seen in the post-match celebrations, Ravindra Jadeja was seen manhandling the BCCI property, Champak, as he shook hands with opponents before leaving the field.

Ravindra Jadeja hilariously grabs Champak for the post-match antics

In a clip that has now gone viral, Jadeja was seen wearing a broad smile as he picked up the BCCI’s technological innovation, a robotic dog named Champak, which is actually an on-field camera, by its leg.

Champak was named by the BCCI as a four-legged robotic dog introduced in IPL 2025 for broadcasting innovation and fan entertainment.

Besides providing a “dog’s-eye view” from the field, the 17 kg robot also acts as a mascot, capturing on-ground footage and even taking selfies with players while performing actions like dancing, waving, and manoeuvring around the field.

Ravindra Jadeja was seen carrying Champak on his left shoulder as he laughed and shook hands with Gujarat Titans’ opponents.

Before leaving the field, though, Jadeja gently put Champak down near the boundary line, as the cameraman shared a laugh with him.

How did Jadeja perform in GT vs RR IPL 2026 match?

Although Ravindra Jadeja grabbed attention with his post-match antics involving BCCI property, his performance in the match was underwhelming. Batting first for Rajasthan Royals, Jadeja managed to score only 7 runs off 7 deliveries.

With the ball as well, he failed to make an impact. Jadeja was expensive in the two overs he bowled, conceding 25 runs without taking a wicket.

He bowled immediately after the powerplay in the 7th over, where he gave away 11 runs. He was brought back again in the 9th over but conceded 14 runs, leaving Gujarat Titans needing 119 runs from 66 deliveries.

Though Jadeja underperformed in this match, he had earlier impressed with the ball against his former team, Chennai Super Kings, on March 30, where he picked up two wickets and conceded just 18 runs.

Rajasthan script royal defeat for Gujarat Titans

Nevertheless, with Rajasthan Royals in strong form this season, they managed to defeat Gujarat Titans by defending their mammoth total of 210 runs, courtesy of contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Dhruv Jurel.

Although Gujarat Titans’ middle and lower order batting attempted a comeback, the final two overs from Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger turned the game decisively in Rajasthan Royals’ favour, as Sai Sudharsan’s 44-ball 73 in the chase ultimately went in vain.

The Ravindra Jadeja-starrer Rajasthan Royals will next face the Mumbai Indians on April 7 in IPL 2026 at the Barsapara Stadium. They currently lead the points table with two wins from two matches and a solid net run rate of +2.233.
