India finally found the breakthrough they were desperately looking for on Day 5 of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium, and it came from none other than star player Ravindra Jadeja.

The Indian all-rounder dismissed Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva and showed extra emotion, celebrating the wicket aggressively.

Ravindra Jadeja Celebrates Aggressively After Dhananjaya de Silva's Crucial Wicket

The crucial wicket for India came in the 56th over when Ravindra Jadeja delivered a full ball just outside the off stump. 

Dhananjaya attempted a paddle sweep but failed to control the shot. The ball took the top edge and went high into the air, where Manav Suthar, positioned at short fine leg, completed a straightforward catch.

Dhananjaya walked back after scoring a valuable 59 runs off 151 balls; he formed a crucial partnership with Sonal Dinusha and the duo stitched 95 runs off 202 balls.

Dhananjaya de Silva's dismissal was particularly important because he had helped Sri Lanka keep their hopes of saving the Test alive. His resistance and patience frustrated India for a long period, but Jadeja eventually produced the breakthrough.

The Indian team erupted after the wicket, and in particular, Ravindra Jadeja was visibly fired up and appeared to shout in the direction of the batter during his celebration.

Ravindra Jadeja Complete His Redemption

It is important to note that Ravindra Jadeja also completed his redemption on Day 5 after taking Dhananjaya de Silva's wicket. 

On Day 4 of the IND vs SL 1st Test, the Indian all-rounder thought he had dismissed Dhananjaya in the fourth innings, but it was later confirmed that he had stepped out and it was a no-ball.

In the last ball of the 16th over on Day 4, Jadeja bowled a delivery that drifted into Dhananjaya and landed on a good length around off stump before moving away. The Sri Lankan captain managed a thin outside edge, and the ball went to KL Rahul at first slip.

The frustration for Jadeja continued on Day 5 as well, he came close to taking wickets on several occasions but could not complete the dismissal.

It is vital to note that, based on the stats, Jadeja has a strong record against Dhananjaya in Test cricket. The Sri Lankan captain has faced Jadeja in 9 innings and has managed just 99 runs at an average of 19.8 and a strike rate of 43.23. 

On the other hand, Jadeja has dismissed him five times.
