Playing the first match of the series and headlining India’s spin attack alongside senior men Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, Dhir struck in his very first over.The 26-year-old knocked over West Indies well-set opener John Campbell in the 12th over of the match, when the latter had already reached 39* off 33 balls. However, Dhir’s moment of joy was simply not meant to be as the apparent ‘dismissal’ occurred with a major twist. He was named in Team India squad for the ODI series against the West Indies earlier this month, considering several first-choice players are currently in Japan for the ongoing 2026 Asian Games. Dhir logically replaced fellow bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar in the team, thus becoming cricketer number 264 to play ODIs for India. He has so far bowled three overs in the game and conceded 18 runs at an economy of six an over.What is Naman Dhir record in domestic cricket before making India debut?The Haryana-born Punjab all-rounder has played 14 List A matches so far in his competitive career, having made his format debut way back in December 2024. To date, he has aggregated 351 runs in 11 innings at an average of 39 and has also harvested seven wickets at an average of 37.14.Dhir has also played 20 first class matches, yielding 669 runs with the bat at an average of 23.06 and bagging 17 wickets with the ball.
