Dhruv Jurel might be the most underrated keeper in the IPL, and his exploits against the KKR side on Sunday proved the theory right. He has fast hands and quick reflexes, which often help Jurel do impossible things from behind the stumps.

Keeping against a spinner is a tough job as one has to be quick behind the stumps and has to be alert. Unlike a pacer, a spin-bowler doesn’t give keepers much time to think, and this was proven in the KKR Vs RR IPL 2026 match.

Jurel pulls off a never-seen-before stumping in IPL

Rajasthan Royals had scalped two early wickets as KKR lost Tim Seifert, and skipper Ajinkya Rahane for ducks. Chasing 156, the home side had lost two key wickets, and this is when Cameron Green decided to take matters into his own hands.

He raced to a quickfire 27 off 13 balls, and was running away with the contest before Ravi Bishnoi, and Jurel combined to dismiss him.

Green danced down the wicket to take down Bishnoi, but the RR spinner was short as he bowled it short and down the leg side, completely outfoxing the KKR batter. However, the problem was that the ball was going well down the leg side.

Jurel needed something special to get to the ball as he stretched with a dive to his left and collected the ball swiftly. He lost his balance, but the keeper had the presence of mind to aim at the stumps as Green was well outside his crease, and was stumped.

This was a never-before-seen stumping in the IPL, and it needed a special keeper to pull this off.

Jurel's stumping helps Bishnoi enter IPL purple cap race

On the scorecard, Ravi Bishnoi’s delivery to dismiss Green would be called a wide delivery, but the Rajasthan leg-spinner anticipated that Green would step down the wicket. He was smart enough to drop the ball down the leg side, but it still needed some smart work from Jurel.

The RR keeper did a majestic work behind the stumps to dismiss the KKR all-rounder, and in the process, helped his teammate enter the IPL purple cap race. With the scalp of Green, Bishnoi now has 10 wickets in the ongoing IPL season.

He is just 4 wickets away from becoming the Purple Cap holder as CSK’s Anshul Kamboj has 13 wickets under his belt at the moment. In the ongoing campaign, Bishnoi has 10 wickets in just 6 innings, with an economy of 9.23.

Jurel replicates RR coach Kumar Sangakkara's similar feat

Jurel pulled off an incredible effort in the KKR Vs RR IPL 2026 match, but a similar feat was accomplished by RR head coach, Kumar Sangakkara, in an ODI game against Australia.

In an ODI game between Sri Lanka and Australia, Australian batter Jimmy Maher stepped down the wicket to smash Muttiah Muralitharan. Just like Green, Maher was outfoxed, but the ball drifted away from Sangakkara.

The Sri Lankan keeper swiftly moved to his left, grabbed the ball, and despite losing his balance, he managed to stump the batter.
