Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced one of their greatest IPL playoff performances as they crushed Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2026 at Dharamsala.

RCB’s batting lineup completely dismantled the GT bowling attack, with skipper Rajat Patidar smashing an unbeaten 93 off just 33 deliveries to propel the side to a massive 254/5.

While the match was already filled with sixes, wickets, and dramatic moments, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, and Jason Holder grabbed major attention online.

What started with Holder’s aggressive celebration after dismissing Kohli eventually ended with Padikkal giving the GT all-rounder a perfect tit-for-tat response during the second innings.

What Happened Between Kohli And Holder?

Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch during his 25-ball 43 that included five boundaries and a six. Alongside Devdutt Padikkal, he helped RCB race to 93 inside nine overs after Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive cameo at the top.

However, Jason Holder managed to provide GT a breakthrough in the ninth over. Holder bowled a sharp short ball that Kohli appeared to misjudge completely.

Instead of playing a cut shot, Kohli attempted an awkward hook shot but only managed to get a bottom edge onto the stumps. The dismissal ended a dangerous innings just when Kohli looked set for another big score.

What followed immediately after the wicket became one of the biggest talking points of the night. Jason Holder celebrated aggressively in front of Virat Kohli and even performed a jogging-style run-away gesture while sending the former RCB captain back to the pavilion. The animated celebration did not go unnoticed by the Bengaluru camp.

Devdutt Padikkal Gives Holder A Taste Of His Own Medicine

The revenge moment arrived during Gujarat Titans’ disastrous chase of 255. GT were already collapsing under pressure when Rasikh Salam dismissed Jason Holder for a three-ball duck in the sixth over.

As soon as Holder’s wicket fell, Devdutt Padikkal instantly recreated the exact same jogging celebration that Holder had performed earlier after Virat Kohli’s dismissal.

Padikkal sprinted towards his teammates while mimicking the celebration in a direct response to Holder’s earlier antics.

The gesture quickly went viral across social media, with fans calling it the perfect revenge for Virat Kohli’s wicket.

Devdutt Padikkal’s Valuable Contribution For RCB

Apart from the celebration moment, Padikkal also played a vital role with the bat for RCB. The stylish left-hander smashed 30 runs off just 19 deliveries at a strike rate of 157.89.

Padikkal attacked from the beginning and stitched together a rapid 72-run stand with Kohli for the second wicket. His aggressive approach ensured RCB maintained pressure on GT bowlers throughout the powerplay and death overs.

Although Holder eventually dismissed Devdutt Padikkal as well, the damage had already been done by the RCB top order before Rajat Patidar completely took over the innings later on.

RCB Completely Outclass Gujarat Titans

After posting the highest-ever total in IPL playoff history, RCB bowlers ensured there would be no comeback from Gujarat Titans.

Jacob Duffy struck early with the bizarre hit-wicket dismissal of Sai Sudharsan before Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Shubman Gill cheaply. Rasikh Salam then delivered a sensational over that dismissed Nishant Sindhu and Jason Holder, reducing GT to 51/5 inside the powerplay.

Gujarat Titans were eventually bowled out for 162 in 19.3 overs as Royal Challengers Bengaluru stormed into the IPL 2026 Final with a commanding 92-run victory.
