Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh roasted Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer on the live stage ahead of the IPL 2026 season. The fast bowler publicly ridiculed Iyer for his poor stats at the Mullanpur Stadium, which is PBKS' home ground in the IPL.
The IPL 2026 season will kick off on March 28. PBKS, meanwhile, will start their campaign on March 31 against the Gujarat Titans. Punjab Kings’ first game will be at their new home ground, which is the Mullanpur Stadium.
Arshdeep Singh publicly ridiculed Shreyas Iyer
Meanwhile, ahead of the new IPL 2026 season, PBKS launched their new kit with captain Shreyas Iyer and pacer Arshdeep Singh leading the unboxing event.
The duo addressed the press on the occasion and reflected on their plans for the upcoming season.
However, Arshdeep explored his witty side and roasted his captain, Iyer, in front of the whole world. He said Shreyas usually does not feel pressure until he is batting at the Mullanpur Stadium.
Both Arshdeep Singh and Shreyas Iyer burst into laughter, and the crowd enjoyed this funny banter.
Interestingly, Iyer’s record at the Mullanpur Stadium has been horrendous. In 4 innings, he has managed to score just 25 runs at a 104.17 strike rate. His highest score has been 10 runs. Moreover, Punjab Kings also didn't have a very memorable outing at the venue. Out of the 5 games played at the Mullanpur Stadium, Punjab Kings lost 3 games and won only a couple.
Hence, keeping the banter aside, Iyer must work on his weakness, as PBKS cannot fall weak in their home ground.

Shreyas Iyer sets his eyes on the trophy
That being said, Shreyas Iyer has only one single aim heading into the IPL 2026 season, which is to lift the trophy for PBKS, one step beyond their runners-up finish last season.
Embracing the pressure and expectations around the side, Iyer said he is hungry for success and wants to lead PBKS to their maiden title this year.
Not only that, Shreyas Iyer recalled a tough phase where he ruptured his spleen while fielding in Australia. The batter apparently lost 7 kilos of weight rapidly and had to go through a long recovery.
Regardless, after regaining fitness and form, the PBKS skipper now looks determined to convert last year’s strong campaign into a championship-winning run.
PBKS face a fresh blow ahead of IPL 2026
Meanwhile, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson is set to miss the early matches of IPL 2026 for PBKS due to paternity leave. He stayed back home after the birth of his child.
Ferguson was PBKS’ key option in the middle and death overs. His absence means PBKS lose raw pace and wicket-taking threat early on.
Regardless, Punjab Kings still have a strong pace unit, including Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen and Marcus Stoinis. This depth allows them to absorb the impact better than most teams.
