During a highly competitive game between Fazilka Falcons and Amritsar Soormas in the Sher-E-Punjab 2026 season, Abhishek Sharma spun his magic to dismiss Shubman Gill, thus ending his explosive run in the first innings.
Captain Gill was on fire after the Falcons were asked to bat first. He stitched a 72-run partnership with Pranshu Pratap and helped his team recover after the loss of two early wickets in the powerplay.

Shubman Gill extended his dominance to hit a sublime half-century, and hence Soormas captain Abhishek Sharma decided to step up. He came up to bowl the 10th over but had an awful start.
Gill took him on to hit two sixes and a four. Despite 17 runs already gained from the overs, Fazilka Falcons skipper was hungry for more, and that turned out to be his biggest mistake.
Shubman Gill tried to hit a six over deep mid-wicket but failed to cross the boundary line as Naman Dhir took a close catch. As soon as Dhir got hold of the ball, Abhishek Sharma roared in joy.

Gill was clearly disappointed with himself as he banged his bat onto the ground in sheer frustration and anger as his explosive innings ended on 67 off 35 balls.

The Fazlika Falcons vs Amritsar Soormas turned into a Shubman Gill vs Abhishek Sharma show in the Sher-E-Punjab 2026 season. Gill came out all guns blazing for Falcons as he slammed 67 runs in just 35 balls, including 8 fours and 3 sixes.
He led from the front, but Abhishek Sharma didn’t back down either. In his first spell in the powerplay itself, he dismissed Anshul Chaudhary on a golden duck, thus reducing Falcons to 20/2.
Moreover, with Soormas losing momentum due to Gill’s fine innings, he stepped up again to get a breakthrough. Abhishek eventually got 2 wickets for 37 runs in his four overs.

Later, both rose through the ranks and played together for the Indian cricket team. Abhishek and Gill have displayed pure brilliance in multiple T20Is, including a match-defining partnership against Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup.
Apart from this, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill’s families are also close. In fact, Gill was even spotted hugging Abhishek's mother and bowing down to his father before a game.
