In a massive setback for India-A, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sustained an injury a day before the marquee clash against Sri Lanka-A.
It's worth mentioning that Sooryavanshi is tipped to make his India debut on the upcoming UK tour, where the Men in Blue are slated to face England and Ireland across seven T20Is.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi leaves practice session midway in Sri Lanka
Led by Tilak Varma, the Indian A side is preparing for its third group-stage encounter of the ongoing Tri-Nation Series in the Island Nation.
However, ahead of the mega contest, the Indian team's key batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reportedly left the practice session due to an injury setback.
India's first T20I against Ireland is going to be played on June 26. After the two-match series against Ireland, Shreyas Iyer-led India will travel to England to face the home team in five T20Is and three ODIs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is part of the India T20I squads that will take on the Irish and Englishmen across seven matches on the upcoming UK tour.
However, days prior to his potential debut for the senior men's side, an injury forced Sooryavanshi out of the practice session in Sri Lanka.
According to RevSportz, Sooryavanshi experienced some discomfort, leaving the nets midway a day prior to India-A's third group-stage encounter against their Sri Lankan counterparts.

The report didn't specify the nature and extent of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's injury. Nevertheless, considering he has been a key player for Tilak Varma's team and can dismantle Ireland and England's bowling attacks with scintillating stroke-play, Sooryavanshi's injury could prove costly for India-A as well as the senior team.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could become India's youngest debutant
Having said that, if the injury is not serious, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will get a golden opportunity to represent India on their upcoming UK tour.
He grabbed the limelight with a string of blistering knocks for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. The 15-year-old had already been on the radar of the BCCI selection committee, which finally roped him into the senior T20I side for the Ireland and England series following a blockbuster IPL season.
Sooryavanshi hammered 776 runs, winning the prestigious Orange Cap in the tournament. He pipped proven performers like Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Virat Kohli, adding the elite milestone to his kitty at a tender age.
If Sooryavanshi gets fit before the Ireland series, he could break Sachin Tendulkar's record and become India's youngest-ever debutant in international cricket.
Who could replace Vaibhav Sooryavanshi if he gets ruled out vs SL-A?
On the contrary, if Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's injury rules him out of the India-A vs Sri Lanka-A clash, allrounder Nishant Sindhu might replace him in the playing XI.
As India-A have three genuine top-order batters- Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and Ruturaj Gaikwad- captain Tilak Varma might decide to bring in Nishant Sindhu to bolster the middle order as well as the bowling unit.
Talking about Sooryavanshi, the destructive southpaw had a forgettable start to the Tri-Nation Series, managing only 14 runs in the tournament opener.
Although he bounced back with a quick-fire 22-ball 44 in the subsequent game, India-A went down to a spirited Afghanistan side that emerged victorious by virtue of the DLS method.
