In the ICC tournament, Australia is the giant, but the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup looks a little bit different for them. A string of injury setbacks has rattled the squad, with several key stars still struggling to regain full fitness even after the tournament began.

One of the main weapons of the Aussie, Tim David, has been fighting with an injury setback for a long time now and missed their tournament opener. Ahead of their next clash, pacer Nathan Ellis made a surprising revelation about Tim David's possible availability in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Nathan Ellis drops a big update on Tim David's comeback

In the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup, the Australian side faced a series of setbacks even before hitting the ground. Some of the big names ruled out of the tournament, as some of them are set to miss out on the tournament partially.

Most recently, a hamstring injury has dealt a major blow to star power-hitter Tim David, adding to the growing concerns in the Aussie camp.

Due to that, Tim David missed Australia’s opening clash against Ireland. As the Aussies are gearing up for the remaining matches, David’s presence in the lineup will be crucial. Just before the next showdown, pacer Nathan Ellis shared a key update, hinting at the possible date of Tim David's return.

“Tim's chomping at the bit to get a game, and he's training really well. He's hitting the ball as far as I've seen him hit the ball, he's had six weeks at home, which he doesn't often get to try and get himself fit and strong and get in the gym. He's flying - he's running and fielding. I hope we will see him in the next game. If not, maybe the game after that,” Ellis said.

Ellis unveils the secret behind his deadly slower ball

While facing Ireland in their last clash, the Aussie lineup faced some early blows as the slower deliveries by the Irish side troubled them initially. Later on, when they returned to defend the total, the Aussie bowler picked up the same weapon that turned the tide.

With unplayable, slower deliveries, Nathan Ellis troubled the opponent batters. Keeping the domination alive, he led the attack from the front and registered an outstanding four-wicket haul while conceding just 12 runs. After wrapping up the game, he reflected on their strategy.

“ I don't look at myself as the leader of the attack - it means a lot for me to be here in the Australian jersey at a World Cup, so that's probably the biggest thing. Tonight, we obviously saw that the slower balls were really effective. We saw that through our batting innings as well,” he said.

“So we went into our bowling innings with that feedback from our batters. And it showed tonight again that in these day games you might need a lot of spin bowling, some change-ups and a bit of chaos,” he added.

Australia eye commanding charge in the group stage

The biggest stages have often seen Australia at their ruthless best, with the ODI World Cup witnessing years of their sheer dominance, but the T20 World Cup has not yet fully felt that same reign. Being in group B, Australia has been teamed up with Ireland, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Oman.

Starting the journey with a commanding victory over Ireland in the last clash, they are set to face Zimbabwe in the upcoming clash, and the rest of the matches are scheduled against Sri Lanka and Oman. Despite being rocked by injuries, the Aussies look determined to sweep through the group stage before storming into the Super Eight.
