Earlier, Varma played two matches each for the South Zone and India A teams in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the tournament respectively. He aggregated 259 runs in eight innings of the premier first-class competition, doing so at an average of 37.
Overall, in first-class cricket, Tilak averages a staggering 50.38, having aggregated 1,562 runs in 35 innings spanning 23 matches.
What are the changes made in South Zone squad?

The South Zone team won its previous Duleep Trophy title back in 2023, under the leadership of Hanuma Vihari.
The 2026 Duleep Trophy season is scheduled to be played between August 23 and September 10 in Bengaluru.
