Suryansh Shedge receiving India cap from Sanju Samson (Source: @BCCI/X)Suryansh Shedge, who joined the India A squad as Hardik Pandya’s replacement for the Australia A series, kept on doing wonders in Puducherry. Thanks to him, India revived from 118/5 after batting first and posted 275 runs on the board.Shedge, who made his international debut in June, smashed seven fours and two sixes in a counter-attacking 60-ball 66-run knock. He and Vipraj Nigam put on an 85-run partnership for the seventh wicket, saving India from humiliation.Suryansh Shedge Stands Out While Big Names FailIndia got off to a steady start, courtesy of an 83-run stand between the two Punjab Kings openers, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. However, Devdutt Padikkal fell for just two runs, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rajat Patidar didn't last long either. So Shedge had to step up when Nishant Sindhu fell cheaply as well. Earlier, against Australia A, he had taken four wickets with the ball in the first unofficial ODI, giving an indication that he has all the ingredients to replace Hardik Pandya, who turned 33 on Sunday (October 11).Star Sports @StarSportsIndia A maximum to keep the momentum going! 💥 Will Suryansh Shedge and Vipraj Nigam take India A to a daunting total ? #INDAvAUSA | 3rd ODI | 👉 Streaming Live Now Oct 11, 2026, 12:13 PM All in all, it was good news for the BCCI, as Shedge stood tall among the rest. They have been massively hit by Hardik Pandya’s frequent injuries of late, and the rise of Suryansh Shedge is giving them relief as they prepare for the 2027 World Cup.How Has Shedge Performed For India So Far?Shedge, however, is not yet at his best for India. He got three T20I opportunities when India toured England and Ireland in June. There, with the bat, he had the scores of five-ball 1 and six-ball seven. With the ball, he conceded 39 runs off his three overs against England and 25 runs off two overs against Ireland without taking any wickets. If Shedge wants to become the next Hardik Pandya for India, he must perform in crunch situations, just like he did on Sunday (October 11). Time and time again, Hardik stood up when required the most, building a reputation as India’s Mr Clutch.Shedge, who wore the No. 33 jersey for India A, the same number Hardik wears, must keep the momentum going.ALSO READList Of Bangladesh Bowlers With Hat-Tricks Across Formats Feat Hasan Mahmud
