Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has strongly reacted to viral social media posts that falsely attributed controversial remarks to him following his second marriage. The 40-year-old, who recently tied the knot with Sophie Shine in a private ceremony, made it clear that he has 'never carried baggage from the past' and urged people not to spread fake statements about him.
Shikhar Dhawan's reaction came after certain posts claimed that his former wife had once told him that no one would marry him after their separation.

The viral content further suggested that his second marriage was a response to that alleged remark.
"When my first wife left me, she told me that no girl would ever marry me. But by getting married again, I have given her a fitting reply. Won’t you congratulate me on my wedding?" -Shikhar Dhawan.
However, Dhawan denied ever making such a statement and called out those creating false narratives for attention and clicks.

Taking to social media, the former India opener addressed the issue directly.
"I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past, be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past," he wrote.
He further added, - "This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well-wishers and the media. I strongly urge people not to trade on my name with clickbait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity. Thank you!"
Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie Shine's love story
Dhawan and Sophie Shine had been in a relationship for over a year before making it public in May 2025. They announced their engagement on January 12 this year. The couple was first seen together during the ICC Champions Trophy match in Dubai, where Shine is currently based.
According to several reports, Sophie Shine works as a product consultant and serves as Second Vice President, Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, a US-based financial services firm.
It is important to mention that the adorable couple's wedding ceremony was held in the Delhi-NCR region and was attended by close friends, family members and a few colleagues from the cricketing fraternity.
Both Dhawan and Sophie shared several heartwarming pictures on Instagram from their wedding, sangeet, Haldi, and other functions.
