Roston Chase Vows To Leave Babar Azam's Pakistan Red-Faced

Last week, Babar Azam’s Pakistan were back, as the middle-order batter was re-appointed by the PCB for Test leadership duties.

However, things did not go well on his return to helm, as Pakistan lost to Roston Chase-led West Indies by 90 runs in the first of the two-match Test series at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.

Despite Shan Masood, former Pakistan captain, making history at the venue, Babar Azam’s Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat. Ahead of the second Test, West Indies captain Roston Chase showed supreme confidence that they would leave Pakistan in tatters in the second Test, scheduled for August 2 start at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain.

Roston Chase Eyes Another Pakistan Humiliation

Speaking to the reporters ahead of PAK vs WI 2nd Test, Chase said they will only go upwards from hereon. Besides, the all-rounder mentioned that they know what Pakistan can do as a team, particularly when they are down and about to be written off.

"After having the year last year, we sat down with the plan and said that this is where we want to be. And as I said, we're exactly where we want to be. We want to level up. We want to just come into this second Test, not take anything for granted, just go through the processes that we've sat down and talked about. We want to come and execute them to the best of our ability. And look to get that second victory," Chase told the reporters.

Furthermore, Chase highlighted they would like to turn the Caribbean soil into fortress across venues.

"We're very blessed and very happy for the results that we've been having at home so far. But I want to make home our fortress, where we make it very difficult for teams to come to the Caribbean and beat us. Because it's our own conditions, we know them inside out, and better than the opposition. So I think we want to really make home advantage count, and we've been doing that well so far. So, as I said, we're lucky to continue in the vein of form that we've been in, and to take victory in this second game," Roston Chase added.

West Indies Record At Queen's Park Oval

Babar Azam’s Pakistan could actually lose to West Indies once again, as the Queen's Park Oval data suggests.

West Indies played 63 Tests here, of which they won 20 matches. Among other matches, they lost 18 games, while 25 matches ended up as draw.

Interestingly, all last eight matches at Queen’s Park Oval ended as draws. The last match where a result happened at this venue was in 2018. Back then, West Indies, led by Jason Holder, defeated Sri Lanka by 226 runs.

Needless to say, even if West Indies secure a draw at Queen’s Park Oval, they will win the Test series against Pakistan.
