Rajat Patidar Picks 4 RCB Legends In His All-Time IPL XI; MS Dhoni In, No Rohit Sharma

RCB captain Rajat Patidar picked his all-time IPL playing XI, with Rohit Sharma being one of the most notable omissions. Patidar is RCB's most successful captain, having led the franchise to consecutive IPL titles in 2025 and 2026. 

After lighting up the IPL and MPT20 2026, Patidar is all set to represent the Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Speaking to SportsLaunchpad on YouTube, Patidar picked his all-time IPL XI, including four legendary RCB players- Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal. CSK talisman MS Dhoni also made it into his team, while Rohit Sharma missed out.

Patidar chose West Indies legend Chris Gayle as the opener of his all-time IPL XI alongside Virat Kohli. Gayle played a pivotal role for the Royal Challengers, amassing 3163 runs at a blistering strike rate of 152.73. 

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has scored the most runs in IPL history, claiming the top spot on the list of most successful batters with 9336 runs, all while playing for RCB. Rajat Patidar also kept RCB icon AB de Villiers to bolster the middle order of his all-time IPL XI.

Known for his destructive batting, De Villiers finished his IPL career with 5162 runs, the second-most by an overseas batter after David Warner. 

Yuzvendra Chahal is the fourth RCB legend whom Patidar selected in his all-time IPL XI. While Chahal has represented several franchises, he was particularly successful in the RCB jersey, scalping 139 of his 233 wickets for the Red Brigade. Overall, Chahal has the most wickets in IPL history, rightfully earning a place in Patidar's XI. 

Suryakumar, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya strengthen the middle order with MS Dhoni

Suryakumar Yadav was an automatic choice for Patidar, as he has hammered 4581 runs at a strike rate of 148.58. Fondly known as Mr IPL, Suresh Raina was allotted the number four slot by Patidar, having shown remarkable consistency for CSK. 

Rajat Patidar picked CSK's five-time IPL-winning captain MS Dhoni as the number 7 batter in his team, while selecting MI captain Hardik Pandya as an obvious choice for the fast-bowling all-rounder's role. 

Rohit Sharma, Warner, Bhuvneshwar, Bravo among notable exclusions

As Rajat Patidar chose Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli as his openers, the legendary duo of David Warner and Rohit Sharma missed out on selection. 

While the selection of Virat Kohli over Rohit Sharma seems logical due to the former's consistent returns in the IPL, David Warner's snub is eyebrow-raising, given that the Australian opener has the most runs among overseas batters (6565) in the IPL history. 

Warner is fourth on the list of the most successful batters, averaging 40.52 and striking at 139.77 in the tournament. 

In another interesting selection, Patidar picked Dale Steyn to spearhead the bowling department alongside Jasprit Bumrah. He surprisingly snubbed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been a match-winner for RCB in his captaincy stint and is the highest wicket-taker among fast bowlers in the IPL history. 

If we compare Steyn and Bhuvneshwar's numbers in the IPL, the South African ace managed 97 wickets in 95 outings, while Bhuvneshwar has 226 scalps under his belt at a more impressive strike rate. 

The iconic duo of Dwayne Bravo and Lasith Malinga also couldn't make it into Rajat Patidar's all-time IPL XI, with the RCB skipper choosing Sunil Narine as the fourth overseas player in his team.
