A surprising moment caught everyone’s attention after the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) clash between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Rajat Patidar playfully grabbed young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi by the neck following the match. The RR vs RCB game took place at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Friday, April 10.

Batting first, RCB scored 201 for 8. Notably, their innings was led by captain Rajat Patidar, who made 63 runs, while Venkatesh Iyer added valuable runs towards the end. Early breakthroughs from Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi created pressure. Even so, the defending champions managed to recover well and crossed the 200-run mark.

Rajasthan Royals make chase look easy

In reply, RR chased 203 runs with great confidence. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his excellent form in IPL 2026. He turned a challenging target into an easy chase with a brilliant 78 runs off just 25 balls, scoring at an incredible strike rate of 300. 

The 15-year-old showed complete control and confidence as he attacked experienced bowlers like Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Notably, the Bihar young batter dominated early overs and hit Hazlewood for three consecutive fours along with a six in one over. Soon after, he reached his fifty in just 15 balls by smashing two back-to-back sixes off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 

Rajasthan Royals raced to 97 for 1 in the powerplay. At the same time, wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel supported the innings well and later remained unbeaten on 81 runs from 43 balls.

Dhruv Jurel smashes fifty against RCB 

Rajasthan looked comfortable for most of the chase. A brief slowdown occurred as the team slipped from 129 for 1 in 8 overs to 134 for 4 in 9.4 overs. Even then, Dhruv Jurel stayed calm, while Ravindra Jadeja used his experience to steady the innings. Notably, Jurel completed a half-century, and Jadeja played a supporting role in their unbeaten 68-run partnership.

With control firmly in their hands, the team led by Riyan Parag secured a six-wicket victory with 12 balls remaining.

Rajat Patidar’s playful gesture goes viral

After the match, a light-hearted moment grabbed attention. As cameras focused on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi interacting with teammates, Rajat Patidar walked up to him and playfully held his neck. The gesture appeared friendly and quickly became popular on social media, with fans enjoying the cheerful interaction between the two players.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi moved ahead of his teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Orange Cap race. His impressive 78 runs helped him reach a total of 200 runs in just four matches.

With this victory, Rajasthan Royals climbed to the number one position in the standings and remained unbeaten, holding a net run rate of +2.055. On the other hand, RCB stood in third place with a net run rate of +1.231.

Notably, table-toppers Rajasthan will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on April 13.
