Prabhsimran Singh has shut down talks about him gaining weight with a single post on social media. These rumors came after Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered their fourth loss in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) tournament and slipped to fourth spot in the points table.

The Punjab Kings had clashed with the Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala’s Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. The Punjab Kings were asked to bat first after DC captain Axar Patel won the toss.

Delhi Capitals hand Punjab Kings a humiliating loss

Punjab Kings got a good start as Priyansh Arya smashed 56 runs in 33 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes. Prabhsimran Singh failed to come good, scoring only 18 runs. Shreyas Iyer, the PBKS captain, also contributed, scoring 59* in 36 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. The rest of PBKS's batting added few runs, with Suryansh Shedge (21* in 8 balls) taking the team to 210/5.

It was a huge total to chase, and the Delhi Capitals' top order failed brutally, leaving the team at 74/4 in the 9th over. But Captain Axar Patel roared to form with the bat and scored 56 with 8 fours and 2 sixes and added very important runs with David Miller, who made 51 runs with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Ashutosh Sharma’s 24 and some late-order hitting by Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi took DC to a scintillating win with 3 wickets in hand and one over to spare.

Prabhsimran Singh cools off after a brilliant start

Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh was once amongst the top scorers in the IPL, having scored 382 runs in 11 games with a strike rate of 169.02 and a best score of 80*, and four fifties to his name. However, Prabhsimran Singh's individual performance is currently in a falling phase, much like the team's.

The batter was cheaply removed early in the innings in each of the previous three games, scoring 15, 3, and 18 runs in his last three innings. More so, Prabhsimran Singh has also been accused of maintaining a poor lifestyle amid the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season.

“Gained around 10 kgs in recent weeks." Journalist alleges poor fitness of Prabhsimran Singh

Subhayan Chakraborty, a journalist for RevSportz, stated on May 12 that Prabhsimran Singh has gained about 10 kg in recent weeks and that Prabhsimran and some other PBKS players are living a terrible lifestyle, which has harmed their on-field performances.

These accusations become huge, especially as Punjab Kings have lost their last four games. They lost against the Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Rajasthan Royals in that order. In three of those four games, the keeper-batter was dismissed early.

Prabhsimran Singh hits back at overweight accusations

On Wednesday, Prabhsimran Singh dispelled rumors that he had put on a lot of weight during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Despite scoring 18 against Delhi Capitals (DC), 3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and 15 against Gujarat Titans (GT), Prabhsimran has failed to score in the last three games.

The mid-season downturn of PBKS has been exacerbated by his explosive beginnings with opener Priyansh Arya and lack of runs with the bat.

However, instead of releasing a statement to rubbish the claims of him gaining 10 kgs, Prabhsimran just posted a photo on his social media, wearing just shorts and flaunting a perfect athletic body, with the finger-on-mouth emoji.

What’s next for Punjab Kings?

Punjab Kings were formerly at the top of the table, but now they are in fourth place with 13 points after six victories, four losses, and a no-result. To ensure they remain in the top four, their next game at Dharamsala against the Mumbai Indians (MI) becomes critical.
