However, Hesson now appears to have bigger ambitions. With Pakistan searching for stability and direction in the longest format, the coach has publicly confirmed his interest in taking charge of the Test side on a permanent basis.Mike Hesson Demands Coaching Role After Pakistan's England WhitewashMike Hesson has made his intentions clear after Pakistan's disappointing campaign in England. After losing the opening two Tests and conceding the series, the PCB made a major alteration to its coaching structure.Sarfaraz Ahmed was removed from the Test head coach position, despite having been appointed only in April 2026. His stint therefore lasted just around four months before the PCB decided to make another change. His strongest credentials come from his six-year stint as New Zealand's head coach between 2012 and 2018.When Hesson took charge in 2012, New Zealand were looking to build a more competitive and resilient Test side. His tenure eventually became one of the most successful coaching periods in the country's modern cricket history. One of the biggest features of Hesson's time with New Zealand was the team's ability to compete outside their own conditions. Under his leadership, the Black Caps secured notable Test series victories in England and South Africa, while also winning home series against India and the West Indies during the 2013-14 season. The challenge, however, is significantly different. Mike Hesson would be inheriting a Pakistan side coming off a 3-0 series defeat and searching for answers in both personnel and performance. Whether he gets the opportunity to address those problems on a permanent basis could now depend on how convincing his case becomes after this interim assignment. Also Read- Shreyas Iyer Speaks On His Relationship With Gautam Gambhir After India Takeover
