The Hundred 2026 has a whole different vibe to it now that the league has the backing of the IPL franchise owners. Four of six franchises have the majority or minority stakes bought by the IPL bosses. One of them is the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, which famously owns LSG and recently bought a Hundred franchise.
Ahead of the Hundred 2026, the RPSG Group bought a 70 per cent stake in the Manchester-based franchise from the Lancashire County Cricket Club, rebranding the franchise to Manchester Super Giants.
RPSG Group to build high-performance centre near Old Trafford
Taking the relationship with the county a step further, the RPSG Group has committed to building a state-of-the-art high-performance centre.
As part of the Hundred franchise deal, the new co-owner agreed to build the sports facility behind Old Trafford, according to Cricbuzz.
Moreover, the high-performance centre will have indoor nets, a gym, outdoor training areas, and sports science and medical facilities all in it.

"Cricket is at the heart of RPSG Group's sporting investments, and this partnership reflects our long-term commitment to the game. Lancashire Cricket shares our ambition to build facilities that give players every opportunity to succeed, and we are proud to be investing alongside them in a project that will benefit the Club, the Super Giants family and the wider game for years to come," Goenka said in a statement as quoted by Cricbuzz.
RPSG Group's expanding sporting empire
Apart from the Hundred's Manchester Super Giants, the RPSG Group own two other teams across franchise leagues.
In a never-before-seen acquisition, the conglomerate bought the Lucknow-based franchise for INR 7,090 crore in 2021 and later named it Lucknow Super Giants. In 2023, they purchased a team in South Africa’s franchise tournament, Durban Super Giants, in its inaugural season.
Moreover, the major Indian business group bought the services of the Rising Pune Super Giants for the 2016-17 IPL season, when the BCCI banned two of its franchises from the lucrative league.
Hailing from West Bengal’s Kolkata, the group bought the historic football club, Mohun Bagan, in 2020. Initially, it was called ATK Mohun Bagan Football Club before it rebranded to Mohun Bagan Super Giants.
Manchester eye maiden Hundred titles under RPSG regime
In the Hundred 2026, both their teams have done well in the initial couple of matches of the season. The Manchester Super Giants Men's team has won both their matches under Aiden Markram's leadership. While the Meg Lanning-led side is sitting in the second berth with a win and a defeat.
However, with the tournament still in its early stages, both teams will be eager to maintain their momentum and challenge for their maiden Hundred titles. They will next in action against Sunrisers Leeds on Tuesday at Heedingley.
