Just a few days back, former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir faced a heavy backlash following his prediction of India’s potential ‘struggle’ in the Super-8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. While predicting semi-finalists on a cricket show in Pakistan, Mohammad Amir was the one who ruled India out of the top four.

Amir’s remarks didn’t sit well with many cricket fans and some Indian experts as well. But what happened in Ahmedabad on Sunday, during the tournament's Super-8 game between India and South Africa, has made Amir’s remarks prophetic.

Now, another former Pakistan cricketer has joined the bandwagon of taking a dig at India after the holders faced a massive 76-run defeat against South Africa.

Mohammad Yousuf roasts India via Mohammad Amir

Former Pakistan batter Mohammad Yousuf didn’t take too long to roast India, with a special ‘Mohammad Amir’ mention in a sarcastic post on his official X handle.

“Oye Mohammad Amir, you menace! You tormented India on the field, and now you’re rattling them from the studio. Let them breathe, they’re already under fire,” wrote Mohammad Yousuf in his X-post.

“South Africa, the finalists, have picked up right where they left off last T20 World Cup. A formidable side! Top order stumbled, but the lower order delivered, and the bowling discipline was exceptional,” Mohammad Yousuf added.

What was Mohammad Amir’s prediction about India?

During Geo News’ show Haarna Mana Hai, Amir rated South Africa and West Indies better than the hosts, India. Eventually, while predicting two semi-finalists from Group 1, he picked the Proteas and the Caribbean side over the Men in Blue.

“It is my opinion. I am not saying that India is a bad team. It is just my assessment, based on how their batting has performed and how the entire unit has conducted themselves so far. South Africa and West Indies are better teams, according to me, so that’s why I didn’t pick India as a semi-finalist,” He said.

India under massive fire after crumbling against South Africa

After the embarrassing 76-run defeat against South Africa, Suryakumar Yadav’s men have been surrounded by circumjacent criticism for their approach during the run chase. The shot selection of India’s top-order batters while chasing a big target of 189 runs has been under the scanner.

Especially, Tilak Varma's and Abhishek Sharma’s dismissals have left most of the cricket experts, and fans fuming.

India lost two wickets for just five runs in 1.1 overs and failed to recover throughout the innings. Eventually, the reigning champions were bundled out at the score of just 111 runs in 18.5 overs, with Shivam Dube being the only batter to display a bit of fight with 42 runs off 37 balls, with a six and three fours.

When India had lost 86 runs for the loss of five wickets in 14 overs, the 15th over bowled by the star South Africa spinner, Keshav Maharaj, happened to be the final nail in the coffin for India. He bagged three wickets in this over to turn India’s score from 86/5 to 88/8, pushing India entirely away from the game.
