In recent times, the Bangladesh cricket team is storm after their decision to walk away from the T20 World Cup. Adding fuel to the fire, former women’s skipper Jahanara Alam has rocked the BCB again with another shocking claim.

She had earlier leveled serious sexual harassment allegations, and the cricket board opted for a detailed investigation. But now, she has voiced her frustration, slamming the process for its alleged lack of transparency.

Jahanara Alam slams BCB over alleged lack of transparency

Over the last few months, the inner collision between the BCB and former Bangladesh Women’s skipper Jahanara Alam has ignited controversy. A few months ago, she bought a massive allegation of sexual harassment against former selector Manjurul Islam.

She revealed that she was subjected to inappropriate approaches from members of the national team management during the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup.

Following the massive allegation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board opted for an investigation. After the entire process was completed, the inquiry committee investigated four allegations raised by the former player.

In a media release of BCB, it stated that evidence was insufficient to support two of the claims, while the remaining allegations showed initial signs of misconduct involving Md Monjurul Islam.

After the entire process had been concluded, Jahanara Alam voiced frustration. In a statement, her legal advisory firm said the cricketer was relieved the inquiry had ended but was not informed of its outcome by the BCB.

What does the official statement say?

In BCB’s media release, the board said two allegations were upheld, but didn’t specify those. Adding to the controversy, the board did not officially inform the former captain of the final outcome or share a copy of the report with her. After that, Jahanara Alam’s legal advisory firm, Mahbub & Company, released a detailed statement on that.

“This statement is issued on behalf of Ms. Jahanara Alam, former Captain of the Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket Team, by Mahbub & Company, her appointed legal advisors. It responds to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) media release dated 4 February 2026 concerning the report of the Independent Inquiry Committee formed to examine her allegations of sexual harassment, misconduct, retaliation, and breach of privacy during her tenure with the National Women’s Cricket Team,” the statement said.

“Ms. Alam notes that the inquiry process has reportedly concluded and that the report has been submitted to the BCB as per the BCB’ Media Release dated 4 February 2026. Firstly, Ms. Alam expresses her gratefulness to the Independent Inquiry Committee for officially concluding the investigation. While this is a positive procedural development and Ms. Alam is relieved, it must be emphasized that Ms. Alam, as the complainant, has not been formally informed of the outcome, nor has she been provided with a copy of the Inquiry Committee’s report or any portion thereof, despite her being entitled to be informed about such report,” it explained further.

Will Jahanara Alam finally receive the report copy?

As per the statement, Jahanara Alam reached out to the cricket board regarding the inquiry report, but the BCB said it is currently under review by their legal team. However, the board has yet to clarify whether she will be provided with a copy of the report.

“Following the BCB’s media release, Ms. Alam communicated to the BCB vide an email seeking clarification on the Inquiry Report. The Board stated that the media release dated 4 February 2026 followed standard procedure and that its Legal Team is reviewing the report before any lawful disclosure,” they stated.

“However, despite her request, the Board has not confirmed whether or when the report will be provided. While the BCB claims in the email correspondence that the Inquiry Committee was formed on its own initiative, Ms. Alam clarifies that it was specifically established to officially investigate her formal sexual harassment complaint. Therefore, regardless of the origin of the committee, Ms. Alam is entitled to the final report,” they added.

The BCB was already dealing with several issues, and that landed them in fresh trouble. Alam’s legal team stated that the next course of action will be decided once the board formally communicates with the former captain.
