India women name squad for one-off Test vs Australia; 5 stars earn maiden red-ball call-up

On Saturday, January 24, the BCCI women released India women’s 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Australia. Notably, India will travel Down Under for an all-format series starting from February 15 to March 9. 

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will play three T20Is, three ODIs, and a solitary Test that will take place from March 6 to 9 at the WACA in Perth. Talking about the squad, Kaur will lead the side, while Smriti Mandhana will serve as a deputy. 

5 players earn maiden Test call-up for India

Notably, Amanjot Kaur, Vaishnavi Sharma, Pratika Rawal, Kranti Gaud, and Sayali Satghare have earned their maiden Test call-up for India. Vaishnavi Sharma recently rose to fame after making her T20I debut against Sri Lanka.

Further, Pratika Rawal was one of the top-performers in Women's ODI World Cup, while the rest have also shone in WPL and other formats of the game.

India to play Test after a long gap

Indian women cricket is going through a beutiful phase as they are fresh off a ODI World Cup win at home. Further, after the prestigious tournament, India locked horns against Sri Lanka for a bilateral series, where the Women in Blue won 5-0 in the T20I series.

Talking about Tests, India didn't play a solitary Test match in 2025 as their last game in whites was back in 2024 when South Africa visited India and the hosts handed the Proteas a 10-wicket win in July 2024. Therefore, Harmanpreet Kaur and co will play a Test after a one and a half year.

BCCI name squad for ACC Rising Star Asia Cup Team

Apart from the India Test squad, the BCCI has also named India women A's squad for the upcoming Rising Star Women's Asia Cup to be played in a T20 format in Thailand.

G Kamilini ruled out of white-ball series
