Recently, Pakistan's Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram also spoke openly in favour of the legendary Imran Khan, joining the already long list of active and former cricketers, including the 22 former Test captains. With the cricketing fraternity asking for his release, Australia’s former captain Greg Chappell has taken another major step to help his friend. Last month, the Supreme Court ordered that the 73-year-old be shifted to a hospital in Islamabad till the medical officials ask to move him back. But, he was only allowed to stay in the facility for less than a day before he was moved back to the prison. A petition signed by 22 former captains, including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar, was sent to Pakistan's current PM Shehbaz Sharif, urging proper medical care and humane treatment for the jailed Imran Khan. It is worth mentioning that, as per Imran's close allies, the 73-year-old’s health is deteriorating, with him losing the vision in his right eye. Meanwhile, he hasn’t been allowed regular family visits.The former Pakistan PM has been sentenced to imprisonment in cases related to corruption, state gift fraud, and the alleged misuse of his office.
