In a significant development, the Rajasthan Royals franchise has approached India head coach Gautam Gambhir with a lucrative multi-purpose role in the IPL amid the T20 World Cup 2026. Team India has been magnificent in the T20 World Cup, marching into the Super Eights with three consecutive wins in the group stage.

As the Men in Blue continue to shine under Gautam Gambhir's coaching, the Rajasthan Royals have reportedly contacted the Indian head coach for multiple roles.

Gautam Gambhir given lucrative IPL offer by Rajasthan Royals

Inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals had a forgettable IPL 2025 season, finishing the tournament at ninth on the ten-team standings.

Considering they haven't won the trophy for 17 years straight, the Royals made significant amendments to their leadership group. As a result, Kumar Sangakkara replaced Rahul Dravid as the head coach, while Riyan Parag became the new captain of RR after Sanju Samson was traded to CSK for Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.

As Rajasthan Royals are set to have a new management in the IPL, a report by Ray Sportz has claimed that the inaugural IPL season winners are considering bringing India head coach Gautam Gambhir to their setup.

According to a report by renowned journalists Abhishek Tripathi and Ankan Kar, a key stakeholder in the Rajasthan Royals camp wants Gambhir to take over as the team mentor as well as the CEO of the franchise. Additionally, the Royals are also keen to rope in the India head coach as their co-owner, if the report is to be believed.

Thus, Rajasthan Royals have reportedly offered a huge amount of money to Gambhir amid the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Will Gautam Gambhir leave India head coach role for IPL?

Although the offer by Rajasthan Royals is hard to ignore, Gautam Gambhir practically can't associate himself with the IPL franchise until the termination of his contract with the Indian cricket team.

According to the Lodha committee recommendations, the head coach of the Indian team can't be an office bearer in any IPL team and hence RR will have to wait to secure the former opener's services.

Additionally, as Abhishek Tripathi and Ankan Kar revealed in a video released by Ray Sportz, Gautam Gambhir has kept the Indian cricket team as his first priority. After leading India to an emphatic Champions Trophy win, Gambhir has set his sights on the T20 World Cup and the 2027 World Cup.

While his contract will expire after the conclusion of the 2027 World Cup, Gambhir is keen to coach team India during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will witness cricket's grand return to the biggest sporting event.

So, if Gambhir takes the offer seriously, he will likely be associated with Rajasthan Royals after the conclusion of the Olympics, provided the BCCI extends his contract.

Incredible India to face Netherlands in final T20 World Cup match

Now talking about the Indian team, Suryakumar Yadav and his men will face the Netherlands in their final group stage match of the T20 World Cup. Having won the first three games comfortably, India have already entered the Super 8, where they will take on South Africa, West Indies and one team between Australia and Zimbabwe, whichever qualifies for the next round from group-B.
