Batting first, India posted a mammoth total of 249. The Windies were down and out with two wickets in the first over, but a century from Shai Hope helped the visitors snatch a victory out of the jaws of defeat.Besides West Indies’ batting masterclass, the surface at JSCA Stadium in Ranchi was also under the scanner, because a total aggregate of 501 runs were scored in less than 40 overs. Amid the criticism, India head coach Gautam Gambhir is the latest to jump onto the bandwagon.Gautam Gambhir bats for a level playing fieldIn the post-match presser, Gautam Gambhir criticised the pitch and asked for a level playing field. Gambhir raised his voice for a better contest between the bat and ball. “Don’t you want a good competition between bat and ball? We want what you want. If you only want to see sixes and fours, then we want to see that too. If you want an even contest, then we want that too,” Gambhir remarked in a press conference after the match.ALSO READShai Hope Takes Instagram Caption Swipe At Shubman Gill After Record Chase“These bowlers are our bowlers…Their careers are also at stake.
