Gujarat Giants overcame defending champions Mumbai Indians in their final league fixture of the WPL 2026 season. Overseas stars Ashleigh Gardner, Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham all came to the fore for the Giants, rendering Harmanpreet Kaur’s run-chase blitz in vain.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights from the 19th match of the WPL 2026 season between Gujarat Giants Women vs Mumbai Indians Women, as it panned out at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday, January 30.

Gardner, Georgia Wareham’s late surge bolt Giants to 167

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Gujarat Giants lost vintage opener Beth Mooney for just five off 8 balls in the third over of the match. The cricketer chipped one towards the mid-wicket off Mumbai Indians’ South Africa import Shabnim Ismail, with an agile Sajeevan Sajana snaring a sensational catch.

Anushka Sharma at number three belted four boundaries and a six to chip in with 33 off 31 balls at number three. The uncapped Indian all-rounder also steered the Giants towards recovery by crafting a 48-run partnership with Sophie Devine. Sophie herself cracked a quick 25 with three boundaries, before both well-set batters lost their wickets in quick succession as the Giants slipped from 69-1 to 71-3 around the halfway stage of the innings.

Captain Ashleigh Gardner and Georgia Wareham doubled the Giants total through their attacking 71-run stand for the fourth wicket from just 43 balls. Gardner launched seven boundaries and a six in her backend fury to slap an electrifying 46 off 28. Wareham remained unbeaten at the crease, racing to 44* off 26 balls with four cracking fours and two sixes as the Gujarat Giants charted a competitive 167-4 in 20 overs.

For the Mumbai Indians, ace spinner Amelia Kerr struck twice in her four-over spell to claim figures of 2-26. Her victims included well-set Giants batters Anushka Sharma and Ashleigh Gardner. Nat Sciver-Brunt also dismissed a threatening Sophie Devine after failing to make an impact with the new ball.

Sophie Devine, Kashvee Gautam jolt Mumbai Indians early

Mumbai Indians Women openers Sajeevan Sajana and Hayley Matthews started off cautiously in the innings, taking 4.3 overs to notch up 23 runs together. Struggling to get her timing right, Matthews got knocked over by Sophie Devine in the fifth over of the run chase for just six from eight balls.

Sajeevan also made her way back to the sheds the following over for a near run-a-ball 26 courtesy of Kashvee Gautam. Sophie Devine further removed Mumbai Indians’ vintage number three Nat Sciver-Brunt for just two from six balls as the defending champions crashed to 37-3 in seven overs.

Amelia Kerr at number five forged a fighting 45-run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur to restore some stability to Mumbai Indians’ dwindling fortunes. The New Zealander punched out 20 off 16 balls before her well-set stay got halted by Georgia Wareham as Mumbai Indians reached a precarious 82-4 around 12 overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur blasts 82* in vain

Harmanpreet Kaur unfurled the innings of the match through her scintillating knock of 82* from 48 balls with eight fours and four cracking sixes. Sharing a burgeoning 44-run partnership with Amanjot Kaur, and another 28 with Poonam Khemnar, Mumbai Indians still fell 11 runs short of their target.

Among the Gujarat Giants, Sophie Devine (2-23) and Georgia Wareham (2-26) both came up with tight wicket-taking spells. Kashvee Gautam (1-12), Ashleigh Gardner (1-26) and Rajeshwari Gayakwad (1-46) also chipped in with a wicket each.
