The thrills of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 are all set to be doubled up as India and England are all set to lock horns in the second semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium. Ahead of the high-stakes clash, Michael Vaughan has pointed out the key area where England hold an advantage over India.

Both sides enjoyed a successful run in the ongoing tournament and are looking forward to sealing the final berth. Before they face each other on the big stage, Vaughan backed his homeland to secure the crucial victory.

Michael Vaughan highlights England’s spin edge

Since the very first game of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, fans have been enjoying some unmissable T20 moments. The thrills are set to see a new high as the semifinal stage is just one step away, as Team India and England are sharpening their skills before facing each other in the second semifinal match.

After clearing the previous two stages, both teams are riding high on confidence, knowing a win will seal their spot in the final. As anticipation builds, Michael Vaughan has thrown his weight behind England’s spin attack.

Since the start of the tournament, England’s spinners have been in top form, while India’s spin unit has struggled for consistency, with stars like Varun Chakravarthy proving expensive in several matches. While speaking to the Test Match Special podcast, Vaughan hailed England’s spin trio as the best in the tournament.

“England seem to have found a way of winning. England have a better spin attack than India. [Varun] Chakravarthy has been good, but Dawson, Rashid, and Will Jacks have been the best trio in the tournament in terms of spin,” he said.

England’s fielding brilliance wins special praise from Michael Vaughan

Despite dominating the tournament, the Men in Blue have been troubled by costly fielding lapses, with dropped catches proving expensive at crucial moments. On the other hand, England has been phenomenal in this arena. Before the Lions face India, Michael Vaughan praised England’s brilliant fielding efforts.

“England's fielding has been absolutely exceptional. They look really alert. England's running between the wickets has been exceptional. The small percentage of things you can control, England seem to be doing very well,” he said.

Vaughan makes bold call on who will reach the final

In the recently ended Super Eight stage, England showcased their excellence as they appeared for the semifinal stage with an unbeaten streak. On the other hand, Team India tasted one defeat in three matches and stepped into the next stage.

This will not be the first instance of the cricketing giants meeting on the semifinal stage, as they faced each other twice before. In the previous two meetings, both sides secured one victory each. Before they face each other once again, Michael Vaughan predicted the potential winner.

“I just have a funny feeling England can get the job done in Mumbai,” he said.

Team India is all set to face England in the second semifinal on March 5 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. While the defending champions chase another moment of glory, England are equally determined to lift the trophy, setting the stage for a thrilling T20 showdown in Mumbai.
