Young Indian fast bowler Gurnoor Brar and experienced English batter Ben Duckett shared a heated moment during the first ODI at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Led by Shubman Gill, India were invited to bowl first when they faced England in the first ODI of the three-match series.

Opening the batting, Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell ensured a steady start for England. Despite several hits and misses, the English duo survived India's new-ball duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, prompting Shubman Gill to bring Gurnoor Brar as the first change.

The incident occurred during the eighth over of England's innings when Gill brought Brar into the attack for the very first time in the game. After Jacob Bethell took a single off the first ball, Ben Duckett greeted the right-arm pacer with a flamboyant boundary.

While Gurnoor Brar followed it up with a dot ball, Duckett smashed him for an audacious scoop that went over the fine leg fence for six runs. Duckett's attacking approach triggered Brar's aggressive instinct, as he replied with a full delivery and successfully stopped the southpaw's shot in his follow-through.

However, as soon as Brar got hold of the ball, he fired it towards Duckett, showing signs of aggression.

Fast bowlers generally don't like being hit for effortless boundaries; so, considering how Duckett had dispatched Brar for a six in the fourth ball, the Punjab seamer took the onslaught personally and responded to it in an aggressive manner.

Talking about Ben Duckett's contest with Gurnoor Brar on cricketing terms, the English opener initially dominated the Indian speedster in the 1st ODI at Edgbaston.

After taking a few balls to get his eyes in, Duckett launched a series of attacks on Brar, breaking the shackles following a timid start. As of the 12th over, Duckett had scored 24 runs, including three boundaries and two sixes, off Gurnoor's bowling, taking the advantage of his inexperience.

However, Gurnoor redeemed himself with the wickets of Duckett and Jacob Bethell in the 13th over. It was a back-of-the-length ball from Brar, as Duckett slashed it over the square in pursuit of a boundary. But he couldn't clear the third-man fence, where Jasprit Bumrah took a magnificent catch.

Before getting dismissed, Duckett hammered six fours and two sixes for a 45-ball 43.
