Despite a heartbreaking loss to New Zealand in the last match, Team India remains brimming with confidence ahead of the T20 World Cup. With an aim of bouncing back again, Team India has landed in Thiruvananthapuram for the last match.
As the team touched down at the airport, Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson’s playful banter stole the spotlight. After Samson landed in his home state, SKY took a cheeky jibe saying, “Don’t disturb, Chetta”.
SKY and Samson’s hilarious airport banter steals the show
Before stepping into the big stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, Team India has landed in Thiruvananthapuram for their fifth and final T20I of the ongoing T20I against New Zealand. Before stepping into the game, Team India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav’s hilarious banter with Sanju Samson grabbed the attention.
As Sanju Samson touched down in his hometown, captain Suryakumar Yadav couldn’t resist a playful jab. While going out from the airport, SKY turned into Sanju’s personal bodyguard. As the BCCI posted the hilarious video, captain SKY was heard saying, “Get out of the way, move aside, make way please. Don’t disturb Chetta!”
A few members of the Indian team couldn’t stop laughing as Sanju Samson cracked up at SKY’s playful antics. Adding more drama to it, SKY said, “Landing in God’s Own Country.” After that, Sanju’s answer reflected his love for his hometown.
Replying to the Indian skipper, he said, “Feeling great. Feels always great, but this time it is very special.” While getting out of the airport, fans went mad on their own ‘Chetta’. The hilarious video of the banter has gone viral.
Struggles mount as Samson fails to shine in the shortest format
It's been quite a few times now that Sanju Samson’s T20I struggle has become a matter of concern for the Indian side. Despite getting consecutive chances, the wicketkeeper-batter has failed to make an impact, with the ongoing series against New Zealand highlighting his ongoing woes.
Starting the series with a seven-ball 10, his woes deepened with each outing. In the third T20I, he was dismissed on a golden duck, and that created buzz over his T20I future. After that dry outing, fans were in doubt about his place in the side in the fourth T20I, but the team management showcased faith in him.
In the last match, when Team India needed him, he departed scoring only 24 runs in 15 balls. With failures piling up and the T20 World Cup drawing closer, his form has now become a serious worry for the team. With the fifth T20I scheduled for January 31, it could well be Samson’s final shot at keeping his T20I future alive.
Men in Blue eye a fierce comeback in the fifth T20I
After three consecutive victories in the ongoing T20I series, Team India’s rhythm was interrupted in the last game. Batting first, New Zealand ran riot against the Indian bowlers to post a daunting 215. In reply, India were bundled out for 165, suffering a heavy 50-run defeat.
With one final clash against the Kiwis ahead, India will be eager to regain their dominance. As they have already sealed the series, they will try hard to end the series on a high note before stepping into the T20 World Cup 2026.
