In a major update, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been declared fit by the Centre of Excellence for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.
Notably, the ODI series will follow the one-off Test match that starts in New Chandigarh from June 6. After that, India and Afghanistan will compete in three ODIs scheduled for June 13 in Dharamshala, June 17 in Lucknow, and June 20 in Chennai.
When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the Afghanistan ODIs, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were included, and their selection depended on fitness clearance.
Hardik Pandya Declared Fit For ODI Series
According to well-known sports journalist Abhishek Tripathi, the latest update confirms that Hardik Pandya has passed the fitness assessment.
The report has also been shared with the team management. As a result, he is set to take part in the ODI series against Afghanistan. Notably, Pandya is also expected to play an important role in preparations for the ODI World Cup next year. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s fitness update is still awaited.
After the IPL 2026 season, Hardik Pandya took a short break in France and later moved from Paris to Bengaluru to join the BCCI Centre of Excellence. At present, he is continuing his rehabilitation along with regular training sessions.

Hardik Pandya’s Mixed Form In IPL 2026
It is important to note that Hardik Pandya had been managing a back injury, which kept him out of a few IPL matches. Notably, he led Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026 season. However, Mumbai Indians had a difficult run in the 19th edition of the tournament.
Mumbai Indians finished 9th on the points table with only 8 points, collecting just four wins from 14 matches.
Notably, Hardik Pandya also went through a challenging season personally. He scored 200 runs and picked up 4 wickets in the tournament. In addition, he missed four matches due to recurring back issues.
It is also important to note that Pandya has dealt with serious back problems in the past. He underwent back surgery in 2018 after suffering a stress fracture. Pandya stepped away from Test cricket and has focused mainly on white-ball formats.
Hardik Pandya Training At Bengaluru Centre of Excellence
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is expected to stay at the Bengaluru facility until June 10. If the NCA staff give clearance, the Indian star will travel to Dharamshala on June 11 to join the ODI squad.
At this stage, he is working towards full match fitness for the ODIs, a format he has not played for more than 15 months.
