A new series involving Bangladesh and Australia has been added to the international cricket calendar for 2026. As part of their preparations for the 2027 ICC World Cup, Pakistan is planning a home white-ball series, while Australia have confirmed a long-awaited return to Bangladesh.
Australia will tour Bangladesh in June 2026 for a six-match white-ball series, marking their first ODI series in the country in 15 years. The tour will include three ODIs followed by three T20Is.
Australia's schedule for Bangladesh announced
The ODI matches are scheduled for June 9, 11, and 14 at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Following this, the T20I leg will be played on June 17, 19, and 21 at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.
When was the last time Australia visited Bangladesh?
Australia last toured Bangladesh for an ODI series in 2011. During that tour, Australia dominated the hosts, winning the three-match ODI series 3-0. The team was led by Michael Clarke, while Bangladesh was led by Shakib Al Hasan.
In the first match, Australia posted a strong total of 270 runs and successfully defended it, to win the match by 60 runs.
In the second ODI, Australia defeated Bangladesh by 9 wickets. In the last and final ODI, Australia won the match by 66 runs.
Before that, Australia had also visited Bangladesh in 2006 under Ricky Ponting, where they swept the series 3-0.
Tentative schedule for Australia vs Pakistan out
Ahead of their Bangladesh tour, Australia was expected to play a three-match ODI series in Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board is currently in discussions with Cricket Australia to finalise the schedule as per Geo Super.
According to initial plans, the series could take place between May 31 and June 5. One match is likely to be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while the other two fixtures are expected at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Although the schedule for this series has not yet been officially confirmed. The series is expected to serve as a crucial preparatory assignment for both teams.
However, it will be interesting to see when Australia will visit Pakistan, that is, before the Bangladesh tour or after that.
Australia's schedule for 2026
Australia's 2026 calendar will be a busy and exciting year. The year begins with Australia's tour of Bangladesh in June. The team will play three ODIs in Dhaka from June 9 to 14, followed by three T20Is in Chattogram from June 17 to 21.
In August, Bangladesh will travel to Australia for a short Test series. The first Test will be played in Darwin from August 13 to 17, while the second Test will be played in Mackay from August 22 to 26.
Australia will then head to South Africa for a major away tour starting in late September. The teams will first compete in an ODI series. After that, a three-match Test series will be held from October 9 to 31, with matches scheduled in Durban, Gqeberha, and Cape Town.
In November, England will visit Australia for a white-ball series. The teams will play three ODIs from November 13 to 18 in Perth, Adelaide, and Hobart. This will be followed by a five-match T20I series from November 21 to December 2.
The year will end with New Zealand touring Australia in December.
