KKR faced controversy before IPL 2026 when the team released Mustafizur Rahman just days after buying him in the mini auction. Although they spent a lot on the star bowler, the franchise let him go because of ongoing tensions between India and Bangladesh.

The decision was heavily criticised as Mustafizur had signed an IPL deal with KKR, and without his mistake, the player was let go as the matter escalated between the two nations.

Interestingly, Mustafizur is not the only Bangladesh player who has had a beef with the IPL side, Kolkata Knight Riders. There is another player who revealed a shocking IPL story from the 2023 season.

Litton Das reveals dark KKR secret from IPL 2023

Mustafizur is not the only Bangladesh player who was a part of the KKR team. A couple of years ago, the former IPL winners signed Litton Das, the Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter, but he didn’t join the squad immediately due to international commitment.

By the time he joined the squad, KKR was finding it difficult to play him in the main XI due to the team combination, and in that campaign, the player was only given a solitary game to perform, as the franchise didn’t show any trust in him.

Speaking on Bangladesh Cricket’s Char Chokka podcast, Litton revealed a shocking IPL tale involving the Knight Riders.

“I felt KKR didn’t really need me that much,” Litton said on the podcast. “The team also didn’t support me the way I expected,” he added.

He also revealed that there was a lack of communication on the part of KKR, as players are usually given some advance indication before being picked, but that didn’t happen in his case.

“Usually, a player is informed before a match that they will be playing the next day, or something along those lines. I had been sitting out for two matches, and there was no such discussion with me at all,” Litton said. “Suddenly, at 11 PM, I got a message saying, ‘You will play."

What happened in the only IPL game Litton Das played for KKR

Litton only featured in a solitary IPL 2023 match for the Knight Riders, and it took place against the Delhi Capitals. The match was tough for the KKR side as they got bundled out for a mere 127, with Litton failing to deliver the goods (4 off 4 balls).

While he couldn’t do much with the bat, Litton also failed as a wicket-keeper, fumbling numerous catching and stumping chances, including one against Lalit Yadav during a crucial juncture.

He didn’t get another IPL match as he flew back home due to a family emergency.

Litton Das talks about his only match in the IPL

When KKR signed the Bangladesh player, he was expected to play a major role for them, but that didn’t quite happen. In the latest podcast, Litton revealed what transpired during his maiden IPL match.

“I tried with whatever energy I had. In cricket, sometimes things go your way, and sometimes they don’t. That day just wasn’t mine,” he said.

Eventually, Litton never really returned to the IPL after the torrid time he spent in the 2023 campaign.
