Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) is ready to begin in just three days. However, there is still no clarity about the Bangladesh players, and their participation is currently uncertain due to the tense situation in the region.
Notably, the PSL 11 will continue as planned, and at the same time, several restrictions have been introduced due to Pakistan’s ongoing fuel crisis.
PSL 2026 to be played behind doors
On Sunday, the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the tournament will take place without spectators. In addition, matches will be limited to only two venues. This decision was taken after discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who advised reducing public movement due to fuel shortages linked to regional instability.
As a result, matches will only be played in Lahore and Karachi. Cities such as Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Peshawar have been removed from the hosting list in order to reduce travel and save resources.
Bangladesh Government concern over security
After this development, Bangladesh state minister for youth and sports Aminul Haque was informed about the terrorists warning on Sunday. Notably, the league is already facing problems due to several player withdrawals and travel advisories from different countries.
The state minister clearly said that they are not ready to send their players if there is any security risk.
"Definitely our cricketers are not going if there is a security concern (in PSL)," Aminul told this website on Sunday. "First BCB has to inform us about it (security concern) and afterwards we will take an official decision based upon our observation (following scrutiny from national agencies)," he said.
Bangladesh players cleared to travel
In the latest update, the Bangladesh players’ manager shared new information and ended the speculation. He confirmed that Bangladesh players are ready to travel and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have already been issued by the BCB.
A few players are still waiting for visa processing, and this is expected to be completed soon. Apart from this, there have been no other issues or official communication suggesting any change.
Bangladesh players leave for Pakistan after Eid
Meanwhile, on the morning of March 23, several Bangladesh cricketers left for Pakistan to participate in the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League. This happened shortly after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays ended.
Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana shared a Facebook post with the caption “Eid Finish,” and he posted a photo with teammates Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Parvez Hossain Emon on the flight before departure.
Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars owner Fawad Naeem Rana has confirmed via social media that Mustafizur Rahman has departed ahead of the PSL.
The players who are contracted for the PSL include Mustafizur Rahman and Parvez Hossain Emon from Lahore Qalandars, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan Tamim from Peshawar Zalmi, and Rishad Hossain from Rawalpindi Pindiz.
It is important to note that all these players have received NOCs from the BCB, allowing them to participate in the league from March 26 to May 3.
