India's proposed white-ball tour of Bangladesh in 2026 has been in the limelight after uncertainty over the series again resurfaced in recent weeks.

It is important to note that the questions were raised after delays in the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) media rights process; however, the board has now indicated that it remains confident the tour will go ahead.

The tour includes three ODIs and three T20Is and is currently planned for September 2026 after being pushed back from its original schedule.

While the BCB has not yet released the final Expression of Interest (EoI) documents for television and digital broadcasting rights, officials reportedly said the delay is only to ensure the process is properly completed and to secure the best commercial offers.

"We have not issued the EoI documents because there has been a slight change in plans. We are now assessing the market before inviting bids. It is not true that we are withholding the EoI documents because of the India series,” a source told Cricbuzz, the report stated.

Why Was IND vs BAN 2026 Series Rescheduled?

India was initially expected to travel to Bangladesh in August 2025 for a six-match white-ball series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is. However, both boards (BCB and BCCI) later agreed to postpone the tour to September 2026.

One of the reasons behind the decision was the packed international calendar.

In the months that followed, fresh concerns emerged over whether the series would happen at all. Relations between the two cricket boards became tense after Bangladesh chose not to play its scheduled matches in India during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Bangladesh government cited security concerns and requested ICC to move the team’s matches to the co-host, Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from his IPL contract in 2026. The development led to further controversy and tensions between the two countries.

Will IND vs BAN 2026 Series Take Place? BCB Response

Now, with so much controversy, the next question remains: Will the IND vs BAN 2026 Series Take Place?

Recently, the BCB invited broadcasters to bid for the television and digital rights to the India series, but delayed the release of the EoI documents.

The tender process began on July 1 and is expected to close on July 22, but the missing documents led many to question whether the series was still on track.

However, a senior BCB official dismissed those concerns while speaking to RevSportz. According to the official, the board remains positive that India will visit Bangladesh as planned.

"The board is quite optimistic that the Indian team'sfw scheduled tour will go ahead. We are taking a little more time to ensure we receive the best possible offers from interested broadcasters before releasing the EoI documents," the BCB official said, speaking to RevSportz.

It is vital to note that BCB had earlier announced a provisional schedule with matches expected to be played between August 1 and August 13.

However, those dates are now likely to change, and the final fixtures will only be confirmed after both the BCB and the BCCI approve the revised itinerary.

BCB And BCCI Continue Discussions Over Final Schedule

In the same reports, it is mentioned that the communication between the two cricket boards has remained active.

According to the same BCB official, representatives from both boards discussed the India tour during the recently held ICC Annual Conference held in Edinburgh.
