Abhishek Sharma Gives Arshdeep Singh’s Weakness Cues To New Zealand Before T20 World Cup Final

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma recently grabbed attention on social media after jokingly trolling his teammate Arshdeep Singh for bowling wide deliveries during the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final. The funny moment happened after India’s match against England at the Wankhede Stadium and quickly went viral online.

India booked their place in the T20 World Cup 2026 final after defeating England in a thrilling semi-final. The Indian team delivered a strong batting performance and posted a total of 253 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs.

India post a daunting total against England

Notably, Sanju Samson played a crucial role in helping India reach such a big score. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed an impressive 89 runs from just 42 balls. Because of his brilliant innings, India managed to put England under pressure early in the match.

However, England did not give up easily. Jacob Bethell produced an outstanding performance and scored a brilliant century while chasing the target. Despite his efforts, England could only reach 246 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs. As a result, India won the match by seven runs. 

Although India won the match, their bowlers struggled during the later stages of England’s innings.

Spinner Varun Chakravarthy had a tough outing as he gave away 64 runs in his four overs. Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh also had an expensive spell, conceding 51 runs during his bowling. In addition, he bowled five wides during the innings, which added extra runs to England’s total.

Abhishek Sharma trolls Arshdeep Singh

In a video clip shared on social media, Abhishek Sharma was seen sitting inside the team bus with teammates Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh and Sanju Samson. The players were having a casual conversation and enjoying some light-hearted banter after the intense match.

The conversation began when Arshdeep Singh complimented Abhishek Sharma for his fielding effort during the game. However, Abhishek quickly responded with a playful comment about Arshdeep’s bowling performance. 

He jokingly said that Arshdeep might now need two wicketkeepers standing behind the stumps because many of his deliveries were going too wide either on the leg side or the off side.

In the viral clip, Abhishek humorously said, “Arshdeep ko do wicketkeeper chahiye.”

Abhishek Sharma struggling with form

Despite his cheerful presence in the viral video, Abhishek Sharma has not had the best tournament with the bat. The aggressive left-handed opener has struggled to find consistency in the T20 World Cup so far.

In his last six innings, he has recorded scores of 0, 0, 0, 15, 10 and 9. Apart from a half-century against Zimbabwe, he has not managed to deliver a significant performance. Even in the semi-final against England, he was dismissed for just 9 runs from seven balls.

On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh has played an important role in India’s bowling attack throughout the tournament. Even though he had an expensive spell in the semi-final, he has still contributed well overall.

So far in the tournament, Arshdeep has taken nine wickets in seven innings with an economy rate of 8.54.

India aim for a historic achievement

India have performed strongly in the T20 World Cup 2026, winning seven out of their eight matches so far. Notably, this will be India’s fourth appearance in a T20 World Cup final, and the team will be aiming to win a record third title.
