2:07 PM: Sri Lanka create history as they defeat West Indies by 5 wickets in the 2nd ODI of the three-match series at Hambantota. The hosts get an unassailable 2-0 lead meaning they win an WODI series against West Indies after 16 long years.

West Indies won the toss, elected to bat first but were disposed for just 92 in 31 overs with Kavisha Dilhari picking up 4/20 in 6 overs. Rashada Williams top scored with 24 in 62 balls for the Windies.

Aaliyah Alleyne brought some smiles in the West Indies camp by dismissing Chamari Athapaththu early in the innings. Her dismissal was followed by Harshitha Samarawickrama who going for a big pull shot holed out in the deep.

Vishmi Gunaratne and Kavisha Dilhari added 58 in 64 balls for the third wicket taking Sri Lanka well ahead in the game. Vishmi scored a-run-a-ball 50 with 9 fours and a maximum with Dilhari scoring 28 in 38 balls.

Zaida James dismissed Vishmi with Karishma Ramharack striking twice to remove Dilhari and Hasini Perera to reduce Sri Lanka at 89/5 but there were not enough runs to choke the lower middle order.

Ramharack (2/29) was the pick of the bowlers with James (1/12), Shamilia Connell (1/13) and Alleyne (1/15) taking a wicket apiece. Both sides will face-off again in the 3rd and final ODI on June 21st.
