A teenage prodigy who has done well at domestic cricket, Dilhari is a spin bowling all-rounder who made her international debut in 2018.
A wily off-spinner, Dilhari has been applauded by Chamari Athapaththu as the future of Sri Lankan cricket.
She first came to prominence in the 2015 SLC Under-19 inter-school tournament. In the semi-finals, the off-spinner grabbed three wickets and helped her team reach the finals.
An admirer of Nathan Lyon, Dilhari finally made her international debut in the ODI series against Pakistan in 2018. In her debut match, Dilhari bowled three overs and went wicketless as Pakistan won the match by 69 runs.
In the same year, she was named in the T20I squad to face India in their own backyard.
Dilhari sustained a stress fracture in March 2019 and was sidelined for the majority of the year.
She made a strong comeback in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Emerging Team’s Cup and finished the tournament as Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker.
A street smart cricketer, Dilhari is touted by many as the future of Sri Lankan cricket. In the short amount of time, she has cemented her place in the national squad and her calm and composed nature especially during crunch situations has garnered praise from the cricketing fraternities.
