Mitchell Santner (New Zealand Captain): [on their bowling] "It was a good toss to win. I think with the new ball the pitch probably plays its best. There was some swing with the cross breeze here. Once the ball gets older, it starts to spin a bit more as we probably saw throughout that first innings. John Campbell played outstanding at the start to put some pressure back on us and then kind of through the middle, it was just chopping and changing the spinners and then letting the pitch do its thing.
[on Lennox's performance] Seeing Jayden for a long time now. He's done it day in day out back home. On these wickets when one kind of spins and one skids, makes it very challenging for the batters and his accuracy is pretty good for a left-arm spinner. That's been the plans with the ball for the spinners. Let the pitch do its thing if you just fired on a good length, one will skid, one will spin. It makes it pretty challenging.
[on importance of strike rotation] It was challenging to score boundaries. The infield and outfield makes it a challenge as well. Their spinners brought them back into the game. It was pretty nervy there for a while but looking straight down the ground with the up and down bounce, the square shots can be challenging. We got off to a pretty good start. Whenever you lose bang, bang it hurts your momentum a bit. If the 3rd pitch is going to play like that, might be more straight bat shots maybe.
[on winning the toss] I usually call the same thing every time so maybe Shai might flip it the other way, I might turn it around. I think the toss is pretty important. In game one we got ourselves to a decent score and then again it's just trying to adjust. If you can chip wickets away, it's tough to start on these wickets so build pressure that way and see what happens. I think another toss win will be nice in game three."

Shai Hope (West Indies Captain): "[Was their total of 138 reflective of conditions] Definitely in Guyana. But having said that, still can't look for excuses. If we got 60-70 more runs, would have been a different game.
[Need to improve batting first regardless of the toss factor] I am not someone who wins tosses a lot. The one thing we can say that the conditions in the Caribbean using favours the team batting second. It is something we have to get better at. We have to understand the game and the conditions we are playing in.
[Does he expect a more batting friendly pitch for the 3rd ODI] That will be a fairytale. We have got to look at what we have. We have to adapt on game-day and find ways to score.
[His team not giving up with the ball] Anytime, we cross the line, a couple more wickets and you never know what can happen. Good effort from the guys."

Jayden Lennox (Player of the Match): [how does it feel?] "Pretty special. The role of a spinner in New Zealand is a little bit different to what it is here. Contributing to a win for New Zealand's certainly a special feeling.
[on bowling in these conditions] In order to get successful here you have to try to put the ball into the wicket and try and squeeze as many dots as you can. Not foreign conditions. We were here for the GSL last year as a domestic side so it was quite nice to come here and sort of know what to expect.
[on why more batters were LBW or bowled] It's one of those wickets that you hit the wicket hard there's enough variation. It's the variation and bounce. It's a reaction game so if you can drive the wicket in towards your top speed and try and challenge reaction time, you can get some wickets which is quite nice.

The bowling attack kind of looks at you to take some wickets which if we compare that to what it's like at home, it's more of a container role. Player of the Match: Jayden Lennox
05:08 AM IST, 07:38 PM Local Time: A solid performance from the Kiwis has seen them level the series against the West Indies with an 5-wicket victory while there were more than 17 overs to spare as well. Tom Latham showed his experience to make an unbeaten 36* (59) while Michael Bracewell also produced a handy 20* (25) to register a historic 400th ODI win for New Zealand.
Chasing 139 for victory, the New Zealand batters began sensibly against the West Indian new ball duo of Khary Pierre and Matthew Forde. There wasn’t much happening and Shai Hope turned to Alzarri Joseph in hope of a breakthrough. Alzarri didn’t disappoint as he trapped Will Young in front in his first over itself to break the 35-run opening stand.
A few deliveries later, a mix-up between Henry Nicholls and Mark Chapman saw the latter being run-out with Vitel Lawes coming up with a good throw to Shai Hope who did the rest of the work. The Kiwis still managed to produce boundaries which put the West Indies under pressure until Gudakesh Motie forced a top-edge off Henry Nicholls’ attempted sweep with Amir Jangoo taking an easy catch at 45.
Hope continued with Motie while the star from the previous game, Vitel Lawes also came into the attack. Yet, Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell showed a good defensive game to avoid a collapse. The partnership between them brought the required runs under 50 when Mitchell’s tactic to keep using his feet also brought about his downfall as he was stumped off Pierre’s bowling. Pierre made it two in quick succession as he castled Dean Foxcroft around his legs for a four-ball duck as well.
That was the last moment of joy for the West Indies as Michael Bracewell came out and batted positively along with Tom Latham. The West Indian captain Hope looked to rotate his bowlers in search of a breakthrough but it didn’t come as the pair of Bracewell and Latham put on an unbeaten 45-run stand to take the Kiwis home in order to level the series.
West Indies got off to a sprightly start especially due to John Campbell’s positive batting as the side finished the Powerplay at 58/0. However, troubles started for the hosts with Michael Bracewell producing the first wicket as Ackeem Auguste played a loose drive to Henry Nicholls at point. In the very next over, Kiwi skipper Mitchell Santner came into the attack and didn’t take long to produce a ripper which castled John Campbell.
Then, the man of the moment Jayden Lennox struck in his first over as well by foxing Shai Hope with an arm ball. Lennox didn’t stop as Sherfane Rutherford got bowled in a soft fashion after the ball trickled into the stumps despite trying to defend with soft hands. By the end of the 22nd over, the hosts had lost half the side with Santner producing another cracking delivery to find the timber behind Keacy Carty.
At 108/5, the West Indies found themselves in deep trouble but there was no ray of light for them with Motie becoming the next to have his wood-work knocked back by Lennox. Matthew Forde who came into the XI for this game didn’t last long either as he got bowled by Lennox while trying to slog his way out of trouble. Amir Jangoo had shown a lot of patience to hang around but he was also dismissed for a 41-ball 24 with Michael Bracewell trapping him in front. Alzarri Joseph was then found short by a Mark Chapman direct-hit while Lennox struck Vitel Lawes’ pad to get his five-wicket haul and also bowl out the West Indies for a mere 138!
