21:27 PM Local Time & 01:57 AM IST | In the 39th match of the 2026 T20 Blast at Trent Bridge, Nottinghamshire won the toss and put on a disciplined bowling display to restrict Warwickshire to a modest total of 139 runs. Opting to field first, the Outlaws’ bowlers struck at regular intervals, preventing the visitors from building any substantial partnerships. The entire Warwickshire batting lineup was dismantled in 19.3 overs, leaving Nottinghamshire with a highly achievable target on their home turf.

Warwickshire’s innings struggled to find momentum, with only a few batsmen offering resistance. Opener Kai Smith top-scored with a patient 34 off 28 balls, while Zen Malik provided a brief spark in the middle order with a quick-fire 29 off 18 deliveries. Valuable but brief contributions from Rob Yates and Beau Webster (23) helped push the score past the hundred-mark, but a lower order collapse prevented them from playing out their full quota of 20 overs.

The Nottinghamshire bowling unit was spearheaded by a clinical performance from Mohammad Ali, who finished with impressive figures of 3 for 27 in his four overs. He was brilliantly supported by Dillon Pennington(2/26) and the experienced Benny Howell(2/15), both of whom claimed two crucial wickets to choke the run flow in the middle and death overs. George Linde(1/22) and Freddie McCann(1/3) also kept things tight, ensuring a collective and dominant bowling effort for the Outlaws.

Chasing a target of 140 runs, Nottinghamshire's reply was built on a solid platform laid by their top-order batsmen. Opener George Munsey played an anchor role, scoring a steady 27 off 30 balls, which allowed the other batsmen to play aggressively around him. Joe Clarke added a quick 14 off 10 balls to give the chase its early impetus, ensuring Nottinghamshire remained well ahead of the required run rate from the start of the second innings.

The defining momentum of the chase came from Jack Haynes, who took the game completely away from Warwickshire with an explosive cameo. Haynes smashed 36 runs off just 17 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and three towering sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 211.76. Useful contributions down the order from George Linde (24 ) and a late boundaries-push helped guide the home side safely to the brink of victory, showing complete control over the asking rate.

Warwickshire’s bowling attack tried to fight back, led by an exceptional spell from Rob Yates, who picked up 4 wickets to trigger a brief middle-order tremor. Despite his best efforts and economical support from Chris Woakes and Usman Tariq, the total simply proved too small to defend on a true Trent Bridge surface. Nottinghamshire chased down the target comfortably with more than an over to spare, completing a highly convincing multi-wicket victory.
