So, that’s all from today’s game. It was a pleasure bringing you the ball-by-ball coverage of this match. We’ll be back on Friday for the coverage of the second ODI between these two teams. Till then, bbye from me, Anurag Dasgupta, alongside my co-commentators, Arjun Bhalla and Anurag Singh.
Anurag: Earlier in the day, Netherlands won the toss and decided to bat first in a match reduced to 33-overs per side due to rain. The Scotland bowlers used the conditions to their advantage and kept on bowling at tight lines. Pressure started building on the Dutch team as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Max O’Dowd was the lone warrior for Netherlands, scoring 83 runs and steering his side past the 160-run mark.
Anurag: Chasing 165, Scotland lost three early wickets and were on the back foot right from the word go. The duo of Richie Berrington and George Munsey stitched a 69-run partnership for the 4th wicket, but after Munsey departed for a well compiled 27, Scotland crumbled under pressure and lost the game. Vivian Kingma was the pick of the Dutch bowlers, scalping 3 wickets and giving away just 21 runs.
Anurag: That’s it, the match has ended and Netherlands have held their nerves in this topsy-turvy game to pull off a 14-run victory over Scotland. It has been a thorough professional performance from this Dutch team who have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-game ODI series.
W WICKET!!! On the last delivery and the Dutch side has sealed the game in some style! Length delivery and flogged across the line to be taken at deep mid wicket as Sharif tries to smack a maximum to end the innings but miscues the hit. And it has been caught by van Beek at the boundary. The Netherlands takes a 1-0 lead in the series.
