Hamish McKenzie (Player of the Match): "Itβs pretty surreal. The whole week has been a dream come true. I was a bit annoyed to not get a game. We got only five overs before back home. I just played grade cricket for my club. I was lucky to get a contract with WA. I missed out on the season due to an injury but happy to get back. Always bowling leggies. Pretty great to bowl here. We are back home. We have Christmas and New Year in Perth before we head to Adelaide. Iβm not sure about that though."

4:29 PM IST, 9:59 PM Local Time:The Perth Scorchers taste their first victory in the Big Bash Season 13. A dominating win by seven wickets and it was the skipper who brought the winning runs for the side away from home.
Cooper Connolly and Stephen Eskinazi initiated the paltry chase of 102 runs on a flying note. The 20-year-old scored a quick 9-ball 20 while the latter was grafting the innings in the inital half. Aaron Hardie continued after the two left and scored a brisk 20. The Stars bowlers tried to keep things tight but the runs on the board was too lest to be defended against the defending champions.
After the fall of the top three, who scored in 20s, Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner milked their way to the required target.
Earlier in the match, the Scorchers bowlers- Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff initiated the innings by striking from either end. Sam Harper and Beau Webster were the two batters to depart within the first two overs. Thomas Rogers tried to play his strokes despite the early jolts, but fell for 22 as Cooper Connolly struck with the ball.
Marcus Stoinis was struggling for a good period since the invasion of the spinners and Jason Behrendorff reaped the rewards with the wicket. He removed Nick Larkin in the same over. It was followed by a Hamish McKenzie special where the left-arm wrist spinner spelled cob around on-song Hilton Cartwright (24) and Usama Mir. He was on a hat-trick that was denied by Joel Paris. Liam Dawson and Haris Rauf fought till the final over and added 21 runs for the final wicket, thereby reaching 101 runs in the end.
