Tom Abell (Hero of the Match): “Very happy. We came tonight desperate for a win and chuffed for the lads to get over the line. We had to adapt to the conditions that were in front of us. We knew any chase was going to be tricky. The lads executed their plans perfectly and were backed up well by fielding. We had the luxury of learning from the first innings. Have to give credit to Worrall for the way he bowled. We tried to build a partnership. Happy to get a win in our last home game here at Sophia Gardens."

1:13 IST, 20:43 Local Time: Welsh Fire win and keep themselves alive in this competition. Bowlers dominated the proceedings throughout this game but London Spirit just did have enough runs on the board.
After deciding to bat first, London Spirit had a shaky start as they lost their top order early. They were pushed on the back foot but some late knocks from their lower-order batters ensured that London Spirit could post 109 runs on the board. For Welsh Fire with the ball, everyone apart from van der Merwe got a couple of wickets each.
Coming in to chase a target of 110 runs. Welsh Fire had a shaky start too as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. But Bairstow (41) and Abell stitched a 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket and kept chipping away. Bairstow lost his wicket but Abell (37*) carried on and along with some assistance from Phillips (21*) they got the Welsh Fire across the line with seven balls to spare.
Defending their total, London Spirit were provided with a fine start by Worrall who bowled 20 deliveries in the powerplays and got three wickets. However, the London Spirit bowlers could not get the wickets in the middle overs. Dawson got rid of Bairstow on the 69th ball and they were able to keep it tight. However, Mitchell got taken apart in the 18th set, and that turned out to be the turning point in this run-chase.
93b N Ellis to G Phillips
6 SIXXX!!!! Glenn Phillips finishes things in style. Ellis bowls it on a length on the stumps, Phillips stands still and launches it straight back over the bowler's head for a maximum. With this, Welsh Fire beat London Spirit by six wickets with seven balls to spare.
Fire are just one big hit away from winning now!
