For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal who, along with scorer/analyst Sachin Yadav brought all the updates of the final day's play. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
It's time to switch tabs, as some exciting cricketing action is coming your way! The third T20I between India and New Zealand is just about to begin. Following that, we will turn our attention to the series-deciding Test between South Africa and Australia in Cape Town. There's plenty of cricket to look forward to!
New Zealand A fought hard in the final session to save the game, holding on for a draw in the first unofficial Test. The second unofficial Test is set to begin on Saturday, 31 October, at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Session Breakdown (Day 4):

Morning Session - 22.1 Overs, 86 Runs, 5 Wickets

Afternoon Session - 20 Overs, 74 Runs, 3 Wickets

Evening Session - 27 Overs, 55 Runs, 3 Wickets
12:21 PM IST and 7:51 PM Local Time: Bad light and a remarkable resilience from Curtis Heaphy helped New Zealand A to avoid a defeat against India A. India A can regret about not being able to take the final wicket, but they can surely be proud of the fightback they did after a setback in the first innings. Devdutt Padikkal remains the hero of the redemption with his 199. Indian pace quartet have also done their job. New Zealand will look to regroup before the next game.
India A had a terrible first innings as they were bowled out for just 113. Devdutt Padikkal and Yash Rathod got some runs, but the others failed miserably. Rathod hit 3 fours and 3 sixes to score 44 off 49 balls. Simon Keene took a fifer conceding just 24 and he was well partnered by Zak Gibson (3/29). In reply, New Zealand A got off to a brilliant start as Curtis Heaphy (44) and Rhys Mariu (76) added 132 for the first wicket. But India reduced them to 205/6 in next 23 overs. However, Dean Foxcroft stood tall and registered a fine half-century to help his team recover. Kristian Clarke's 42-run knock took the hosts' lead to 204. Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj took three wickets each. Akash Deep picked up 2 wickets.
India A had a daunting task of smothering the first innings lead of 204. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell with the team score reading 10 added more misery. But Devdutt Padikkal and Sai Sudharsan took the onus and added 215 for the third wicket. Sudharsan was dismissed for 91, but Padikkal got to his three-figure score. DDP shared a 142-run stand with Yash Rathod. He was batting brilliantly, but a controversial caught behind decision helped NZ to see the back of DDP, who departed for 199, missing the double century by just a run. Rathod (66) and Washington Sundar (52) got their half-centuries and India got bundled out for 516. Zak Gibson took three wickets and Jayden Lennox took two wickets.
New Zealand needed 313 for victory. Auqib Nabi jolted New Zealand early removing three top order batters with just 13 on the board. Curtis Heaphy however showed tremendous resilience despite losing partners from the other end. Dean Foxcroft got 42 beside his name. Mitchell Hay, Fraser Sheat, Kristian Clarke settled in, but were dismissed eventually. Heaphy continued to fight with the lower order. Zak Gibson, Simon Keene gave him necessary support. Jayden Lennox resisted 57 balls with Heaphy for the final wicket. Devdutt Padikkal was brought in the attack and he picked up 2 wickets. Akash Deep, Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary, Washington Sundar- all got their names in the wickets column, but could not take the last wicket. Curtis Heaphy bailed the Kiwis out of the danger. He remained unbeaten on 90 off 187 balls. Bad light stopped play at the fag end of the scheduled day's play and umpires took more than an hour after that to declare the game as a draw.
