One of the finest exponents of spin, Anisa Mohammed is a professional women’s cricketer for the West Indies national team who made her debut at the tender age of 15 in the 2003 World Cup Qualifiers.
Anisa along with her twin sisters was introduced to cricket at a very young age by their parents and began their domestic journey for Trinidad and Tobago. At the age of 15, she played her first international match against Japan in 2003. Anisa’s one of the most dominating performances came against Pakistan in 2011 when she disrupted the Pakistan top and middle order within 10 overs picking up 5 wickets for just 5 runs becoming the second West Indies bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul.
The off-spinner has been a mainstay of the Windies bowling attack ever since, registering match-winning performances in both formats of the game. Her career-best figures of 7-14 came in the final of the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier in November 2011. Since her debut, Anisa has featured in all formats of the World Cup for the Windies.
The Trinidadian has 7 five-wicket hauls to her name, five in the ODIS and two in the T20Is making her the first women cricketer to achieve the feat. Currently, she is one of the most experienced campaigners in the West Indies team, and the whole squad banks on her spin magic most of the time to get the team out of dire situations.
