Angelo Mathews (Kandy Royals Captain): [on the conversation after last game] "We had a pretty hard conversation. Sometimes you need a reality check and have to be straight-up forward. The boys responded well. It was a collective effort. It was a bit of a slower track. Kusal Janith started well, Lahiru Udara batted really well. It was a fantastic effort. They were cruising in the first 10 overs but the 2 leg spinners pulled things back and kept the pressure. It was a fantastic close by the 2 fast bowlers.
[on the start in the 2nd inns] I was worried. They were going at 10 per over with only 1 wicket down. The 2 leggies brought us back in the game. Nuwan Thushara has been very consistent for both Sri Lanka and us. Shaheen Afridi was fantastic. Bit of a blunder from all of us in the last game but brilliant from Asitha Fernando in the end as well."

11:11 PM IST, Local Time: Kandy Royals defeat the Dambulla Sixers by 43 runs in a brilliant team performance with handy contributions with the bat and ball as well.
Dambulla skipper Dinesh Chandimal opted to bowl first after the coin fell in his favor. Half century from orange cap holder Lahiru Udara (51 off 34) helped Royals get to 194/6. Fazalhaq Farooqi was the best bowler on show for Sixers with 2/20 in his 4 overs.
Sahibzada Farhan (74 off 45, 7 fours, 4 sixes) provided a quickfire start to Dambulla with the injured Chandimal hitting 12 off 7 at the top of the order. Niroshan Dickwella and Reeza Hendricks contributed with 26 and 27 respectively but the middle and lower order collapsed afterwards.
Tidy bowling in the middle and death overs from the Kandy bowlers scripted the huge victory for the side. Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers with 4/29, Dushan Hemantha picked up 2/23 in 3 overs, Wanindu Hasaranga was brilliant with 1/19 in his 4. Dambulla restricted to 151/8 in 20 overs.
Royals register their first win of the season and move to number 2 on the points table with an excellent net run rate and will face the Colombo Kaps next on July 23. Dambulla having won the first encounter of the season drop down at number 4 with Galle Gallants facing them in their next encounter tomorrow.
