Another disappointing evening for the three-time champions, KKR. That’s their fourth defeat of the season, and they’re now languishing near the bottom of the points table. The batting order looks unsettled and there’s a clear lack of defined roles within the side. Ajinkya Rahane seems out of ideas and even head coach Abhishek Nayar will have plenty to rethink. Up next, KKR face the Gujarat Titans away from home on Friday.

On the other hand, CSK are beginning to find their rhythm. That’s back-to-back wins at home for the Men in Yellow, both coming while defending totals. They’ll now travel to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. Up next in the tournament, we head to Bengaluru where the defending champions, RCB take on LSG tomorrow.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide Ninaad Dixit who, along with scorers/analysts Manish Bishnoi and Paras Yadav & statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋
This is the first instance this season where a team has successfully defended a sub-200 total in eight completed matches (excluding RR’s win over MI in the shortened 11-overs-a-side game).
Noor Ahmad (Player of the Match): "(How was the bowl coming out tonight from his hand?) First of all, I am really happy to contribute for my team. It was very humid tonight and there was a lot of dew. The ball was coming out well from my hand. I was trying to keep my fingers dry. It was all about hitting the right areas.

(On the surface) I was really happy with the pitch. I think the ball was not coming on nicely onto the bat. I was trying to take advantage of it.

(How much will tonight's performance give him confidence for the remainder of the season) Yeah, it gives a lot of confidence. I will try to give my best for the team and contribute whenever I can in order to help my team win.

(What sort of pace was working best for him tonight?) I was trying to keep changing the pace according to the wickets. Tonight, something around 90 kmph was working for me."

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain): [on the victory] Feeling good. We defended a par score. The wicket drastically changed after first 7-8 overs. It started spinning and stopping a bit. So we were looking at 220-210 but then we thought anything around 180-190 would be a good score. After that we just had to get a good powerplay in bowling and it was about maintaining that run rate.

[on the bowling performance] It was good. Slowly it's starting to come together. Everyone knows what their role is. Which overs, what to bowl and what lengths to bowl at. They are adjusting and adapting to what team needs. We are getting better and that's a good sign of us.

[on Noor and Hosein] Since we wanted to use Veer if we were short in batting but we had it covered and Akeal coming in the 2nd innings - more of a powerplay bowler but Sunil opening the innings and the ball still gripping with 2 right handers, I thought he could still get us good overs. He bowled really well. Went under the radar.

[on fielding lapses] We dropped everything that came and just took one or two. It was a bit humid today so lots of sweat coming on the hands. Not an excuse but we would like to improve. As long as there is energy behind every ball, intent and attitude, we will be fine even if we drop a few.

[on his batting] Good to be on winning side after a long time. It was getting to my head even when I was batting but last game felt a bit relaxed. I am feeling really good. Just to make sure to do whatever the team and situation needs and I am feeling really positive. Big knock is just around the corner but as long as the other guys are covering up for me, definitely I'll do it when it's needed."
