So that's goodbye from me, Anurag, and my partners DG and Farzaan from the comm box. Do join us tomorrow for the eliminator in the TNPL and The Hundred fixtures in the evening. Good night and take care!!
Rahil Shah | Winning Captain: It feels fantastic, for all these youngsters for the hard work they have put in, it is so good to see. I'm so happy for Adhi [Adithya Ganesh], he has finished a match, an important match and I'm really happy for him.
I'm working with them, it's a good role, glad that they are listening and executing all that we tell them.
Adhi has been playing for Ruby for the past 3-4 years and for him to come and finish off this qualifier is amazing.
Adithya Ganesh: It has been a special journey, from being the underdogs to making it into the finals. We really want to lift the trophy. I have been experienced enough to do this anchor role for the side. I have been a part of the franchise for four years and all the hard work has been paid off today.
Adithya Ganesh bags the Player of the Match award for keeping his cool and playing a match winning knock of 66.
Nidhish Rajagopal gets the Game Changer of the award for his outstanding knock of 82 not out.
Time for Post-match presentation.
Losing captain | Kaushik Gandhi: They held their nerves better than us in the final few overs. The powerplay overs, especially that one big over cost us. It was poor execution from us. I thought we pulled it back well in the middle but kudos to them. They stitched their partnership nicely. Radhakrishnan really packed a punch today, scored more than 60 percent of the runs today and also got runs last game. So it’s a positive that at least one of us is in form. Doesn’t matter whom we’re playing,as long as we do our processes right, we should be alright.
Trichy started the run-chase on the right foot but lost both the openers in the powerplay. The star of the last match, Rajagopal produced another brilliant innings that rocked the Super Gilles. His partnership along with Adithya Ganesh resurrected their innings and brought them ever closer to the victory. Some brilliant piece of fielding by Radhakrishnan saw Rajagopal run out at the death. The fall of his partner didn’t stop Ganesh as he took the charge against Gillies’s pacers and finish the job. We had a twist in the final over with 6 needed off 6, Manimaran Siddharth came on and clean bowled Dhas on the first delivery. With 3 required off the last 2 balls, Ganesh hit a mammoth six to send them into the finals for the first time ever.
Saravan with the new ball produced two beauties, especially the one to Jagadeesan to knock Chepauk down but the youngster S Radhakrishnan came good on the big night. He showed his prowess in the last game with a fifty against the same opposition and played a brilliant knock today as well. He looked well-composed right from the start and the partnership with Sasidev brought Chepauk back into the game. In the end, they will be slightly disappointed as they fell 15-20 runs short at the death.
And with that Ruby Trichy Warriors defeat Chepauk Super Gilles by 5 wickets and 1 ball still to go. They make their way to the first-ever TNPL final but Chepauk still have a chance to book their place in the final as well. The underdogs come on top once again as they held their nerves in the final few overs.
