That's all from this rain-hit game. Both sides share one point each. Thank you for staying with us. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal, and scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. CHEERS!
10:45 AM IST, 18:45 Local Time: ABANDONED! The rain has had the final say in this contest, leading to its abandonment as it returned and halted the progress.
The Women's Super Smash was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain earlier. However, the groundsmen showcased stupendous efforts in preparing the field for the Men's Super Smash as soon as the rain stopped.
The match was reduced to 11 overs per side. Canterbury won the toss and invited Central Stags to bat first. The Stags got off to a horrible start as they lost four wickets within 5 overs and were reeling at 21/4 in 4.5 overs when the rain returned, leading to the match being called off. Stags employed three bowlers, with Matt Henry taking two wickets in 2.5 overs, while William O'Rourke and Michael Rae celebrated a solitary wicket.
Canterbury, who were seemingly ahead in the contest, might be feeling a sense of disappointment and perhaps a touch of unluckiness as the weather halted the progress, and both teams have to share one point each.
10:42 AM IST, 18:42 Local Time: The umpires are having a chat with both captains. Alright, they are shaking hands, and the match has been officially abandoned now.
10:39 AM IST, 18:09 Local Time: The umpires are out to the middle with their umbrellas on. It's still raining, and the chances of any further play look bleak.
10:27 AM IST, 17:57 Local Time: Ah, the umpires have called for the cover. The drizzle is persistent, and the pitch is being eclipsed by the cover. The big covers are coming on now.
Central Stags are losing wickets in quick succession and they are in deep waters.
4.5 M Henry to J Clarkson
W WICKET!!!! Henry with a good length ball at the off stump line. Clarkson tries to heave the ball over the on side but two things goes against him. Firstly, the pace was high and secondly, there was hardly any width given on the ball. As a result, Clarkson gets a huge top edge and Mitchell stationed at cover moves a few steps forward and takes a simple catch.
4.4 M Henry to J Clarkson
4 FOUR!!! After 21 balls, Stags gets a boundary! Henry serves the ball on length at the off stump. Clarkson moves across and ramps the ball over the keeper's head for a boundary!
